Not all bugs are bad! Our team recently found cactus lady beetle larvae on a hawthorn tree. While they may not look like the ladybugs we're familiar with, these beneficial insects help control tree pests like scale and aphids. Have you ever seen lady beetle larvae before?

🪲 Look what our Plant Health Care team found on a recent visit! This little guy is a Red Turpentine Beetle and that reddish sawdust-like material at the base of the trunk is a telltale sign of their activity. These beetles tend to go after trees that are already stressed from drought, root damage, or nearby construction. Seeing them doesn't always mean the worst, but it is a sign the tree needs some attention. With warmer weather picking up here in Colorado, now's a great time to get your trees checked out. 🌲

Today our ROE Project had the opportunity to plant a tree with the amazing kindergarten classes at Rocky Mountain Classical Academy and teach the kids all about how trees grow, why they matter, and how they help our world. They jumped right in to help plant, water, and are going to be able to watch it grow throughout their time in elementary school!

Just Colorado is doing its thing again. Snow and freezing temps are being forecast tonight into the morning. The tough part is some of our trees have already leafed out, which makes them a lot more vulnerable to heavy, wet snow.
If you can, here are a few quick things that help:
🌳 Gently brush snow off branches
🌳 Throw a sheet or burlap over sensitive plants
🌳 Keep an eye on younger trees that might bend
After it passes, take a walk around your property. Look for broken limbs or anything that just doesn’t look right because catching it early makes a big difference.
And if you’re not sure what you’re looking at, no worries that’s what we’re here for!
