Congrats to Robert Mayfield on bringing all parties together to come up with a true win-win for the cycling community of Colorado!

I have worked with for several years now and watched him blossom into one of our best track coaches in the US. As a friend and mentor, I'm extremely proud of him. Coach Rob is a man of integrity and hard work, and he has a tireless commitment to others. Our track re-opening in COS is a testament to his values.

And, in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due, I would also like to extend a huge thank you to Michael Beagley of the USOC for his commitment to this community project as well as Craig Griffin and Shane Garmin of USA Cycling.

The official opening date is April 1st, please come out and help make this community project a success!

Happy Martyn Irvine Day!

10 years ago today, from car mechanic to the 1st Irish World Champ in 100 years!

This man is a solid gold champion. Young riders, use him as your inspiration.

Let's take a sec to talk about this Irish legend. The year is 2012 and we all worked death-march HARD for Martyn to qualify for the Olympics in 2012. By the time the march ended, Martyn never really had the chance to recover before the Games. And it was not from a lack of effort from either of us.

In 2013 we had a chance to breathe more and enjoy the process. And the outcome?

Gold in an epic scratch race and silver in the individual pursuit. Both in the same day! A dream come true for any rider. A career maker. An Irish legend born. Martyn, you made us all so proud!

Success, in any endeavor, does not come easy. You get what you pay for and in cycling, a lot of this price comes in the form of pain and sacrifice. But I do think we can remember to have more fun along the way and not get lost in the "achieving."

So, I challenge all of the fellow overachievers to remember to keep it fun, enjoy the ride of the moment instead of rushing to get to that future finish line, and don't be too serious.

Loosen that grip on the steering wheel of life like Martyn 10 years ago today and see what that extra space let's happen. It might make you a legend!

We just wrapped up a fruitful camp on the island of Trinidad to provide some coaching support for Alexi as she preps for the upcoming Nation's Cup in Cairo, Egypt.

Lots of fantastic work achieved but also, maybe more importantly, lots of fun memories were made.
