🚨TRAINING EXERCISE🚨
Tomorrow, Sunday, June 7, CSFD, in partnership with the Army, will be conducting training exercises at Gold Camp Reservoir near Stratton Open Space.
The purpose of the training is to work on best practices, communication, and partnership when it comes to working with air resources during an incident, specifically using helicopters with buckets to dip in to the reservoir.
You will see and hear helicopter activity in the area. Additionally, CSFD crews will have boats and divers in the water as needed. There is no emergency.

A safer crossing. Better access. Stronger trails. ✨
The new Buffalo Creek Bridge and Gold Camp Road Bypass Trail improvements are complete and open to the public! 🎉
These upgrades provide a safer, more sustainable creek crossing, improve trail connectivity and navigation, enhance drainage and water quality, protect natural resources, and support a better recreation experience.
This project was funded through the Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) sales tax program in partnership with Friends of Cheyenne Canon, Trails and Open Space Coalition, and the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance Stewardship Fund.
🚧 Please note: Work is still continuing in the area through the remainder of June. Visitors may encounter crews and equipment and should use caution, follow all posted construction signage, and give workers plenty of space while enjoying the area.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue investing in safer, more sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities for our community.
Let’s protect the Pikes Peak region together!
