Behind the Scenes: Organizing the Maryland Cycling Classic - Velo Former pro cyclist Bobby Julich admits that he didn’t fully comprehend how much work goes into putting on a bike race. Now he knows first hand.

Baltimore youth at Creative City Public Charter School and Chadwick Elementary were treated to a special surprise ahead of the 2025 Maryland Cycling Classic. Thanks to our partners at Kaiser Permenante, 50 bikes and helmets were donated to the kids, followed by a bike rodeo where helmets were distributed and kids learned about bike safety. Our race ambassadors - Rashaan Bahati, Freddie Rodriguez, and Maize Wimbush - were on hand to share their love of cycling and the many opportunities they have enjoyed traveling the world through the sport. The fun continues on race day, this Saturday, at our Bike Jam taking place at the Pulaski Monument in Patterson Park from 12-4 PM. The family-friendly event will have bike mechanics available, food trucks, learn-to-ride clinics with an obstacle course, in addition to special giveaways and pro cycling guests. The 2025 Maryland Cycling Classic, America’s premier professional cycling road race, has announced preliminary rosters for its third men’s race, set for Saturday, Sept. 6 in Baltimore, Maryland.

With 15 elite teams hailing from nine countries, the starting line will be packed with a diverse and powerful field. The men’s competition will feature top contenders from the European peloton and many of the top North Americans. The race will showcase a star-studded lineup of Olympians, national champions, and Grand Tour stage winners, with athletes from 20 countries represented.

While the crowd enjoys the public show in Harbor Point Central Plaza, you can savor the flavors of Fogo de Chão, with their signature churrasco-style fire-roasted meats, fresh gourmet market table sides, and a special Brazilian caipirinha cocktail—all available for purchase or other tasty eats from local food trucks.
