SoCo Practical Shooters
SoCo Practical Shooters, or SCPS, is a USPSA Club based in Colorado Springs, CO.
- USPSA Area 2
- ECOUSPSA Section
The weather forecast took a turn for the worse and now it looks like it will be snowy, rainy, and cold at the range on Saturday. Sorry to have to do this, but we are going to cancel the match. Refunds are being issued. Next month is doubtful since it is a holiday weekend and I may not have enough staff in town, but we’ll see. In the meantime, stay warm and safe!
The November SoCo Practical Shooters (SCPS) match is cancelled due to not having enough BOD staff. Apologies for any inconvenience. We will also not have a match in December due to it being Christmas Eve and the range will likely be shut down. Therefore, we will see you all in January.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, whether you are at home or traveling to be with family.
Take care and be safe,

Thank you to everyone who joined us in the Springs for our match today. We had PHENOMENAL help for setup and had 99% of it done by 9am -- YOU ALL ARE ROCK STARS!! :)
A gazillion thanks to Charlene Jones and Robert Christie, who stepped in and helped with Stats and Safety, respectively, as we were a little short on BoD staff today. Thank you thank you thank you! 💕

SoCo Practical Shooters will be hosting our August match this Saturday, 8/27. We will have 6 stages, including one classifier. One of the stages is a future classifier that USPSA has asked clubs to “try” and provide feedback on before they officially make them classifiers.
The weather on the day of the match looks to be beautiful, in the mid-80s. However, there is a forecast for possible heavy thunderstorms on Friday evening, so if it hits the range and the conditions are less than ideal, we will send updates via the ECOUSPSA mailing list on Saturday morning.

Due to not having enough BoD in town this Memorial Day weekend, SoCo Practical Shooters will unfortunately have to cancel our May match. Yes, I know, the weather will be gorgeous, but them's the breaks. Please join us next month when we will hold our Section Qualifier match. Promise. 😊
Please enjoy this weekend with your friends and/or family, and remember to honor those for whom the holiday is named.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Springs today to shoot with us on such a gorgeous day! Many thanks to everyone who helped with setup and tear down. HUGE "thank you"s to Steven Cline for his MD/RM help, and the very awesome Charlene Jones for taking care of stats for us. Results can be found here:

Please let me know if you spot anything that needs to be corrected before I upload the results to USPSA on Monday.
Just a reminder, we will NOT have a match next month, as almost the entire SCPS staff will be in Grand Junction for Colorado State. We'll see you in May!

Weather forecast is looking absolutely gorgeous for this Saturday, with forecasted highs in the upper 60s, so the SCPS March match is a GO! (Finally!) 😊 For those of you who will be going to Big Horn next month, we have set up a prep match of sorts – 4 field courses and 1 classifier, and 2 of those stages were designed by Price McDonald for the 2018 and 2019 Colorado State matches.
REGISTRATION & PAYMENT:
Registration and payment is online. The match will open up on PractiScore Wednesday evening at 7:00pm MT. Our SCPS waiver is online, and agreeing to the terms is required in order to register. You will be able to squad after payment.
Only check the discount boxes if you are able to prove you are entitled to them. For example, if you check the USAFA discount box, you will be asked to show your Academy ID at check-in. If you are a BoD member, we will be able to verify that with the other section MDs. Etc. We will have SCPS membership forms available to fill out if you want to sign up for a membership and take advantage of that discount for the rest of the year.
MORNING CHECK-IN:
Everyone shooting our match will be required to sign PPGC's Liability Release the morning of the match. Yes, even though you signed the SCPS waiver online. This is the range’s requirement. While the forecasted high for Saturday looks to be pleasant ...eventually... temps at setup time are looking to be brutally cold and below freezing temps before first shots. Canceling the match. We'll try again next month. Here's hoping Mother Nature cooperates ... 🤞🤞🤞

The class was fantastic! There was so much good discussion on Saturday during the classroom portion, and even more today once we got out onto the range to build and debug stages. So proud of each and every one of them! Thank you to the students who traveled from outside of our section (Jim B) and from out of state (Dillon, Troy, Mark, Gordon) – their dedication to travel great distances demonstrates their commitment to our sport. Thank you also to the members of our section who came down to the Springs for the class – your dedication to take the next step in your officiating journey will help to strengthen our section even further. Next time you see one of them out at your local matches, be sure to congratulate them on a job well done! 😊
One more thing – shout-out to the following people, without whose help and support this class would not have happened: Gene Bray, Pat Jones, Terri Wilson, John Wirth, Regis Frank, the staff at PPGC, and Charlie Perez. And a HUGE thank you to Kevin Imel, for coming out to Colorado to teach both the Level I RO Class in December, and the Level II RO Class this weekend. Thank you all!
We are working on setting up another Level I RO class for this summer. If you are not already on the waiting list and would like to get notified once the details are finalized, please send an email to germ at frii dot com.
