Reflecting back this past winter, Nordic season, there’s one event that specifically stands out to me that Im most proud of…
If you know me, you know my passion and belief that adaptive sports equipment should be accessible to ALL without any barriers of astronomical costs. The Hartford has been a pioneer in the adaptive sports movement. I have felt this and lived this movement for the first time 10 years ago at
10 years ago at The Hartford skis spectacular, I was trying winter sports for the first time. I was one of these athletes that had the world of adaptive winter sports open up to me. Fast-forward 10 years later, I am back at this same event that changed the trajectory of my winter athletic career. This time , with my role as an athlete ambassador & a member of team Hartford, I am giving back by surprising & gifting athletes with their very own custom adaptive sports equipment.
This is why I’m so proud to be a part of the team Hartford. Decades later, The Hartfords commitment to making adaptive sports & equipment more accessible, is stronger than ever through events like Adaptive Sports Equipment program & The Hartford SkiSpec where I get to surprise so many athletes with their very own custom adaptive sports equipment where some can cost 6x the amount of non adaptive sports equipment.
I know what I felt, and the spark that was ignited inside me when I had the right equipment to try skiing, cycling, and rowing. And seeing the same spark being ignited in these athletes, some for the first time, some over, and over means the most to me as an athlete.
these are the moments, that mean the most to me and the best part of being an athlete🤍
Thank you Hartford for allowing me to help amplify your mission in the adaptive sports community alongside my fellow team, Hartford athletes .mathewson
Believing in your dreams and yourself is key. But when you have a team behind you that believes in YOU and YOUR dreams in the same way as you do, that’s when dreams start to become reality. Thank you for not only believing in me, but being a huge force and drive in propelling my dreams to become reality ❤️.
In Lou of it being fashion week around the world I wanted to share one of the most memorable, and to be honest, the day I truly felt hope; that one day the fashion industry will and can be truly INCLUSIVE & DIVERSE!
Last year I not only was a guest, but got to sit front row at the iconic and historic showat Paris Couture fashion week but I got to sit front row next to the incredible, barrier breaking, game changer, . Cheers to the fashion industry to celebrating more diversity and happy fashion week of fall-winter 2024 🥂
I could really get used to racing in Italy ☕️
Never count yourself out is what I’m learning. I need to trust myself & believe in myself that same way my team does.
I’m still in disbelief and shock to be ending my first World Cup race and start the season back with the over all leader bib especially on a flat, fast and not so technical course. I honestly didn’t think this would be possible.
I have so much work that still needs to be done and I’m still dusting off those racing cobwebs. I’m motivated by the challenge though. Next up, World Cup number 2 starts tomorrow.
Above all a huge thank you and shout out to the for fast skis and support. 🥹💪🏽
The smiles say it all! 😆 Tomorrow I will FINALLY be lining back up on the start line at the World Cup circuit after missing the whole year & season last year due to an injury I never thought would involve so much damage and repairs and loss of use and mobility. Can’t believe my last cross country race was in Beijing 2022 winter Paralympic Games. Although my preparations have been less than ideal working around current health issues, I’m excited to start shaking off the cobwebs on ski racing and earn my 🍕 & 🍝 here in Italy. I’m ready to push myself as hard as I can on this fast flat course tomorrow and more importantly race with my teammates and the team.
Leeezzzz gooooo
Stanley, aka (my sienna hybrid) wanted to send me off to our first World Cup with a reminder that even though racing in italy will be amazing, it won’t be as good as skiing out and back into my car is and how accessible he makes skiing for me 🤩. See you soon Stanley I’ll bring back some new coffee for you. 🇮🇹🥰

Starting completely over isn’t easy mentally or physically but, it sure feels good to finally put a race bib back on especially back on the same course where my injury took me out of the whole season last year. It’s been a challenging road to get back on snow but I’m back! So much work to be done. But for me, this season is just about celebrating and being in the moment of being back on snow with the team and putting on some race bibs
Ps: look out for my left middle finger that’s now permanently stuck out. It’s going to make for some epic pics 🤣

I love exploring different places with Stan-the-van aka (my hybrid )… BUUUTTT… he’s always a little toooo eager to chase snow (since he loves to blend in with it), and I’m not as eager to transition from summer to FREEZING 🥶 cold winters and lose my summer tan. The adventures together are ALWAYS worth it.
I am SO grateful for today because today is my mom’s incredible 70th birthday. To the number one person in my life, the most selfless, giving, courageous, loving, generous, thoughtful human beings in this world. Mom, you always put everyone first. You have put my dreams and goals ahead of your own my whole life. Everything you do is with the ones you love in mind first. I love you more than you will ever know and words could ever describe. You are the reason I am living, breathing, and dreaming. I am so thankful for this day, because today is the day the world got one of its GREATEST gifts with you. I hope your birthday is filled with so much love, happiness and you know how loved you are by so many. Although I am not able to celebrate this incredible day with you today in person, there is not one single minute of the day that ever goes by without me thinking of you. “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always? As long as I’m living, my mama you’ll be” 💕 Happy birthday mom. 11/22/1953 will forever be my favorite day 🫶
From the sea, to James Bond, to the Olympic & Paralympic Games, to even THE MOON…… I know I can trust to record my athletic dreams on my journey to and beyond! I mean after all, masters such diverse areas and I have done that a few times with 4 sports😏. I know the precision, commitment, and dedication it takes 🖤

I am blown away and extremely thankful to join the family. Balancing three sports across summer & winter, it takes precision making every minute count towards and
I’ve always admired how has mastered so many areas from the sea, to space, to being the official time keeper of the Olympics & Paralympics Games for decades.

When you’re at the top, people start rooting for you to fail or fall. The beauty is, I know that place very well.
Reflecting back on my athletic career, I realize the fact I learned how to fail first and learned from failure, is how and why I am able to push myself. Thank you for allowing me to share parts of my personal journey along with my journey as an athlete in my memoir “The Hard Parts”. We can never see the “why” of why certain things happen to us in our journeys. But reflection is powerful. Reflecting back I see how my personal journey growing up in government orphanages learning to survive & fight first before knowing love, nurture or support and how that journey parallels with my personal one as an athlete learning how to fail first and the journey & lessons within that.
So thrilled to share that us, for the 2nd year in a row, is supporting 50 women-owned small businesses in fashion and beauty by providing them cash grants & a custom marketing campaign through Empowered by Visa. This initiative builds on Visa’s commitment to address the challenges women face by creating a more inclusive and connected digital economy.
I’m OBSESSED with skin care & always looking to discover new products especially with all of the training stress I put my body and skin through as a winter-summer athlete. So I was excited to learn more about one of the participants, founded by Blair Armstrong. Gilded Body believes that botanically-driven, dermatologically-developed skincare shouldn’t apply only to our complexions. Drawing from the purifying, restorative practices of ancient whole-body bathing rituals, each Gilded Body product creates a layered experience that engages the senses and invites us to slow down and luxuriate in the art of body care. How amazing right?!
If you’re looking for a product that gently exfoliates your skin, check out their Carrara White Marble Brush that helps improve and boost cell renewal, resulting in smoother, softer, more radiant skin.

I hope you know your worth and never compare your life and moments to others. Remember people like to only share the airbrushed moments. You are beautiful. You are enough. You don’t need validation from others. The number one person you should always make sure is happy, is yourself first. What’s meant to be for you, will make its way on to your path. Now let’s chase our dreams with passion and slay💕!
My magic legs 🖤
Many are born with the freedom of movement and some are not as fortunate. I didn’t have access or resource to live independently until much later on. Chasing my freedom of movement in various forms as long as my body will allow me. It’s never too late if it brings you joy
I’d rather stand out & be seen as I am, rather than to try & fit the mold of society’s limited perception of what beauty is and looks like🩵✨
I am finally Back home and I have just now fully started to process the UCI Cycling World Championships that was a few weeks ago now. I am honestly still in just absolute disbelief!!! Last November my athletic world was turned upside down to the point I had the hard conversation with my surgeon of “this might be something that might be impossible to come back from because of the complexity of the anatomy of my hands on top of this repair that took 3 attempts due to my anatomy. And “how I have already achieved so much that it’s a good place to stop my athletic career”. That conversation was the scariest one to have as that is how my rowing career stopped.
To say I lined up on the start line confident would be a lie. The truth is, it’s so hard to live up to everyone’s expectations and their beliefs of my abilities especially in those moments I feel defeated. With just about 8weeks of full training and still not being able to lift in the gym, I knew I wasn’t at my best ‘physical’ shape, that is going to be a long road back. My mind was rocky but mostly just excited to just be in that start line again wearing ! Love, pain, hope, loss, and determination fueled through that sprint photo finish to prove my self doubt wrong and my team and partners around me right in them taking a chance on me, supporting me through setbacks and always believing in the spirit of my fight.
Most importantly a massive thank you to the Team USA national medical network and their partnership with the The Steadman Clinic where Dr. Viola once again made a miracle happen from 2018/19 for my elbow to 2022/23 for my hand. When I say it takes a village….IT TAKES A VILLAGE, and I can never say thank you enough.

Australia x Nike Think Tank 3.0 Part 1
Todays emotions of racing, determined, doubted, inspired, excited and gutted. Started the race surprisingly stronger than I thought but unfortunately this is how it ended.
Halfway through I got a flat. I had so much more to give but the dice didn’t roll in my directions. Something’s are out of your control.
But what’s within my control is how I respond. I have been in many races in highs and lows but I always pride my self on sportsmanship. Despite the winner of todays race who had a strong race and the team cheering when they learned I had a flat it’s something I’d never do to my competitors.
I had a choice to quit or finish the race, with support of my team who always believes i am in the fight I dug deep to try to finish on the podium with a flat but settled for 4th place.
I know what I have in me and I have found that fire to love racing again……and I STILL HAVE A LOT OF FIGHT LEFT IN ME for
TODAY IS THE START OF THE BEGINNING ✨It’s been a year since I lined up on the start line and I sure have missed it.
I’m so thankful for my team around me, my partners, the amazing team and my coach for supporting me and believing in me in the moments I did not. It has been a long process to get to the start line.
At 3:41pm (9pm central in USA) I will do my best to pour my heart & guts out on the course for at the and help earn more female slots for towards Paris 2024.
Our mission is for you to experience an increased quality of life and confidence in your own body.
