The 2025-2026 school year was another outstanding year for Irmo Athletics, as our student-athletes, coaches, and community continued to demonstrate what it means to pursue excellence both on and off the field of play.
This year, Irmo High School Athletics proudly supported just under 800 student-athletes competing across 18 sports programs and 47 teams. From the first contest of the fall to the final events of the spring, Yellow Jacket athletes represented our school with tremendous pride, sportsmanship, and dedication.
One of the highlights of the year was being recognized nationally, as Irmo High School was ranked #19 among the Best South Carolina High Schools for Athletes by USA Today. This recognition reflects the commitment of our students, coaches, teachers, families, and supporters who continue to make Irmo one of the premier athletic programs in the state.
Several of our teams achieved remarkable postseason success throughout the year. Our Varsity Football program made an incredible run to the SCHSL AAAAA Division II State Championship game, finishing as State Runner-Up after an outstanding season that united our entire community. Competition Cheer also continued its tradition of excellence by earning a fourth-place finish overall in AAAAA Division II competition.
On the basketball court, both programs enjoyed exceptional seasons. Boys Basketball finished among the top eight teams in the state, while Girls Basketball spent the entire season ranked in the state’s top ten and advanced to the final sixteen teams remaining in the playoffs.
Track and Field also enjoyed an outstanding year highlighted by several individual accomplishments at the state level. Jaiden Bryant finished as the State Runner-Up in Shot Put and earned All-State honors. He was joined on the All-State team by teammates Jayla Weaver and Janiyah English, further showcasing the strength and growth of the Yellow Jacket track program.
The Final Chapter: Irmo Wraps up 2026!
Irmo Athletics also celebrated the success of one of its alumni on the national stage. Class of 2022 alumnus Nick Emmanwori achieved one of football’s highest honors by winning the Super Bowl as a member of the Seattle Seahawks, continuing Irmo’s proud tradition of developing athletes who excel at the next level.
While championships and rankings are certainly worth celebrating, the true success of Irmo Athletics extends far beyond wins and losses. Our student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom, serve in the community, and represent Irmo High School with character and integrity. Their commitment, along with the tireless work of our coaching staffs and support from parents and fans, continues to build a culture of excellence throughout our athletic department.
As we reflect on another tremendous year, we are grateful for everyone who contributes to the success of Irmo Athletics. The future remains incredibly bright for the Yellow Jackets, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead.
Go Yellow Jackets!
