Fishing has always come naturally to Jake Howard, so much so that by the age of twelve he had moved beyond conventional tackle and learned to fly fish. Growing up near the Saluda River in Columbia, SC, Jake taught himself to cast and began molding his skills on the stocked trout that call it home. After high school Jake decided to move west to the mountains of Colorado. He soon found a job with a fly shop and for three summers led an average of 75 wade and hike in trips on the Colorado, Arkansas, South Platte, and Blue rivers and their tributaries. Jake is currently employed at Columbia’s oldest hunting and fishing store, Barron’s Outfitters, established in 1947 and an active member of Team Stonefly Competitive Flyfishing Team.
