✨ One move. Endless possibilities.
This is our beautiful Robyn bringing a fun little surprise to Pole Level 4 last week.
At first glance, this is just a transition.
But look a little closer, and you’ll see something I love teaching at Studieaux Heaux:
Don’t let one skill live in only one place.
When I bought the studio, the Jasmine and the Genie were taught almost as if they were one move. Jasmine… then Genie. And because of that, a lot of students never got to appreciate how versatile the Genie really is.
I’ve spent the last couple of years uncoupling those two skills and encouraging students to see the Genie for what it really is—a foundational position that can lead to dozens of beautiful movements.
This handstand split is just one example.
If you’re newer to Genie, don’t worry about the split just yet. Instead, try placing your hands on the floor while staying securely in your Genie and simply explore. Feel the leverage. Play with the balance. Build your body awareness.
Sometimes the coolest skills don’t come from learning something brand new.
They come from looking at an old skill in a completely different way.
Thanks, Robyn for giving our students another fun way to play. 💜✨

💜✨ I hope this video makes your day as much as it made mine. ✨💜
This sweet (and just a little spicy 😈) video came from one of my bonus grannies in the Moxie Movez program in Baltimore, Maryland, and I couldn’t wait to share it with all of you.
If you haven’t heard of Moxie Movez, we are proud to offer it right here at Studieaux Heaux!
Created by the amazing Mica Saunders, Moxie Movez was born from love. After the passing of her beloved grandmother—who had always been one of her biggest supporters in her pole journey—Mica created a program that celebrates movement, confidence, joy, and sensuality for seniors.
Because here’s the truth…
There is no age limit on feeling fabulous.
There is no age limit on learning something new.
There is no age limit on feeling sexy, strong, playful, and connected to your body.
That’s exactly what Moxie Movez gives back to people.
Watching this beautiful woman own the pole with so much confidence and personality reminds me why I believe so deeply in this program. It isn’t just about pole dancing—it’s about giving people permission to reclaim a part of themselves that the world often tells them they’re “too old” to have.
At Studieaux Heaux, our Moxie Movez performers are some of the brightest lights in every showcase, and they inspire all of us—regardless of age.
Thank you, Mica, for creating something so meaningful and for reminding us that confidence, joy, and a little bit of sass never grow old.
I hope this beautiful granny inspires you as much as she inspires me. 💜✨
💜 Sometimes the bravest thing you can do isn’t landing a new trick.
Sometimes it’s simply showing up.
Before I say anything else, I want to acknowledge how incredibly brave it is to post your journey online. It’s easy to wait until everything is polished and perfect before letting the world see it. It’s much harder to let people watch you grow.
And that’s exactly what happened here.
This class wasn’t easy.
Over the course of an hour, there were highs and lows, frustration and joy, confidence and doubt. At any point, she could have decided she’d had enough. She could have packed up and gone home, and if she had, I would have completely understood.
But she didn’t.
She stayed.
She let herself feel every emotion without pretending it wasn’t there.
And then something beautiful happened.
As the emotions settled, her body found itself again. She stood taller. She moved with more confidence. She looked graceful, strong, and completely present.
Nothing magical changed in her strength during that hour.
What changed was that she gave herself permission to move through what she was feeling instead of running from it.
That’s courage.
So if you ever find yourself having one of those days in class, remember that you have options. Going home is always okay. Taking care of yourself is always okay.
But sometimes… if you can stay present just a little longer, if you can let the emotions come and go without fighting them, you might discover that there’s another version of yourself waiting on the other side.
I’m so proud of you—not because of the tricks you did, but because of the way you showed up for yourself.
That kind of strength will carry you far beyond the pole. 💜✨
✨ The little details are what make the big skills feel easy.
This is the lovely Emily working on one of my favorite progressions in Pole Level 2:
Outside Leg Hang → Pike → Scorpio
When I teach this sequence, we don’t rush through it. We learn each piece individually, making sure every position is strong before we move on to the next.
Last night, our focus was the pike.
One thing I see all the time is students taking their straight leg and simply pulling it forward into position. They’ll get there… but they’ll miss the opportunity to use the pole and physics to their advantage.
Instead, I teach them to sweep that leg in a big half circle around the pole. That little change allows the pole to settle deep into the hip crease, creating tension and locking the position in much more securely.
It’s a small adjustment.
But small adjustments are often what transform a move from “I can kind of do it” into “I’ve got it.”
Once everyone started finding that position, we couldn’t resist adding the Scorpio at the end. 😈
We’ll clean up the transitions next week, but I think Emily did an incredible job. Every class, she’s building not just stronger tricks, but a deeper understanding of why they work.
And that’s where the magic happens. 💜✨
