Nothing like a bit of context and scale to show off how large Blue Whales are! On Thursday’s extended tour, Captain @bluelifewild managed to capture a rare summer visitor, the Pacific White-Sided Dolphin, playing with a mighty Blue Whale! It’s an inter-species interaction that we’ve never seen before here in San Diego, due to the lack of overlap between Blue Whale season and Pacific White-Sided Dolphin season! It was our third July sighting of “lags”, and to see them joyously swimming on the whale’s snout was a real treat! Blue Whale season isn’t over yet, and we had a report last night of double digit whales moving right back into our local waters, so expect that sightings rate to stay above 90%(like it has been all summer) on our 2.5 hour tours for at least a little while longer! We never know how long the Blues will stay around San Diego’s coastal waters, but last year we saw them consistently into mid-September! As the best weather of the year arrived as the calendar flips to August, now would be a great time to jump on one of our boats! #GoneWhaleWatching

Mount Rainier, also known as Tahoma, is a large active stratovolcano in the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest in the United States. The mountain is located in Mount Rainier National Park about 59 miles south-southeast of Seattle.
