HOW TO BENCH
At Mo Muscle, we coach our clients to understand that strength starts with movement quality first.
Accuracy = hitting the correct target.
Precision = hitting that target the same way, consistently, rep after rep.
When it comes to the bench press, the bar path isn’t just straight up and down — it follows an arc. The bar lowers under control toward the chest, then drives back up and slightly over the shoulders for the strongest, safest pressing position.
Anyone can hit a good rep once. But true progress comes from precision — repeating that same efficient bar path over and over until it becomes second nature.
Once precision is built through enough quality reps, then we can properly progress the load without sacrificing form, power, or safety.
And this doesn’t apply only to bench press — every exercise has its own ideal bar path or movement path. Squats, rows, deadlifts, presses… each requires its own level of control and consistency.
If a client struggles, we don’t just throw on more weight. We take a step back and build the foundation:
✔️ Stability
✔️ Shoulder strength
✔️ Proper bracing
✔️ Bench tightness
✔️ Lat engagement to create a strong pressing platform
Because more weight without control is just compensation.

Today we had the honor of visiting Hilliard Bradley High School to speak with students about their futures.
We got the chance to sit down, listen to their goals, hear what they’re passionate about, and learn about who they want to become. From future nurses to future leaders, these students have big dreams—and that matters. They also asked us questions about our own journeys, which made this experience even more meaningful.
At Mo Muscle, we primarily serve adults, so being recognized as leaders in our community is already a blessing. But having the opportunity to step into a room full of young minds, pour into them, and hopefully be a light in their journey… that’s a whole different kind of blessing. 💙
These kids are the future. We hope to see them thrive, achieve their goals, buy their moms that house they dream about, and most importantly, stay healthy enough to take care of themselves and their future families.
Thank you, Mr. Wellington, for having us today. It was an honor—and we’ll definitely be back next year.
