It’s Getting Closer

Two weeks to go until THE represents at the PWHL Draft. We 🫡
Assistant Captain Sloane Matthews, who is on the eligibility list, and will make the team that selects her a much better team.

Sloane Matthews | F | Plymouth, Minnesota

Part of the Century Club at Ohio State, Sloane played in 161 games, scoring 48 goals and 56 assists for 104 points.

* Recorded her 100th career point with two goals in the 4-0 WCHA Final Faceoff Semifinal win over Minnesota (March 6)
* Had three multi-goal games, including two-goal performances against Minnesota in the WCHA Final Faceoff semifinal and Yale in the NCAA Regional Final (March 14)
* Finished the year with a +39 on ice and blocked 32 blocked shots
* Served as an alternate captain for the Buckeyes in 2025-26

2024-25 (Junior Season)
* Skated in all 40 games for the Buckeyes, finishing the year with 19 points on nine goals and 10 assists
* Recorded a career-high four points (1G, 3A) against Stonehill (Oct. 25, 2024) in the 2024 Women's Ice Breaker Tournament
* Registered her first career hat trick with three goals in the 7-3 win at Minnesota (Feb. 1, 2025), tying for the most goals in a period with three in the second period
* Tallied a point in each game of the NCAA Tournament, including a goal in the regional final and national title game

2023-24 (Sophomore Season)
* Played in all 39 games and recorded 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points on the year
* Recorded the game-winning goal in the Frozen Four semifinal against Clarkson
* Scored multiple points in seven games, including two assists in the Final Faceoff semifinal vs. Minnesota Duluth

2022-23 (Freshman Season)
* Played in all 41 games during her rookie season
* Finished the year with 13 points on six goals and seven assists
* Earned a +13 on-ice rating and added 15 blocked shots
* Scored her first career goal against St. Cloud State (Oct. 7)
* Tallied the Buckeyes' first goal of the 3-0 win over Northeastern (March 17) to advance to the national championship game

A Shot With Panache

Sanni Vanhanen smoothly backhands a shot past the Penn State defender during the 1/3/26 game at THE OSU Ice Rink. THE Buckeyes đź§ąđź§ą the Nittany Lions in the first series of the new year. Bucks won this game 4-1 with Kaia Malachino, Sloane Matthews, Mira JungĂĄker, and Jocelyn Amos scoring goals.

Ohio State begins its 2026-27 season at Penn State on September 24th.

When Opponents See…

Double Jords (Jordyn, Jordan)

They know Double Trouble is coming at them.

As UMD did at the OSU Ice Rink during the 1/30/26 game, when both Jordyn Petrie and Jordan Baxter were on the same line.THE Buckeyes defeated the Bulldogs 6-2. Baxter had a goal, Petrie had an assist, and both ended with a +2 in this game.

Getting closer to the PWHL Draft, and we continue to 🫡
our senior/graduate Buckeyes who have declared for the draft. We are confident that they will begin the new chapter of their lives as professional athletes.

Hailey MacLeod | G | Fort Abbotsford, British Columbia

After transferring to Ohio State for the 2025-26 season, MacLeod played in 42 games for
THE Scarlet and Gray, finishing with a 34-5-1 record.

* Played two seasons at Minnesota Duluth prior to transferring to Ohio State
* Finished the 2023-24 season atop the WCHA in save percentage (.948) and second in goals-against average (1.423)
* Posted a career-high 42 saves in the Bulldog’s 3-2 win over Wisconsin (Dec. 3, 2023)
* Enters her junior season with a 16-5-3 record, .946 save percentage and 1.315 goals against average in 27 games played
* Invited to Team Canada's U18 selection camp to compete for a roster spot on the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship
* Attended both the Hockey Canada National Women's Under-18 Team Summer Development Camp in Calgary and the BC Hockey U18 Female Program of Excellence Provincial Camp
