The Lowndes County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors offer prayers for the family of Columbus High School graduate Bob McCrory and the people of Purvis, Miss., after a tornado ravaged their community Wednesday.
The tornado damaged the baseball and softball fields in addition to the school at Lamar Christian, where Bob coaches the girls softball team.
Bob, a 2000 graduate of CHS where he played football, baseball and soccer, is credited for his hard work in making the softball facility a field the Lamar Christian girls could be proud of.
Fortunately the tornado missed Bob’s house by 100 yards and his house was not damaged.
Bob, who pitched at Southern Miss and pitched two seasons in the major leagues with the Baltimore Orioles, has been nominated for the Lowndes County Sports Hall of Fame.
