What a great time at the 1-Day Fly Fishing School yesterday! Nothing like learning all the basics of the sport, casting and catching your first trout on the fly.

Really great email from Jarod and the team at Project Healing Waters giving us an encouraging update from the donation our community made early this year to their cause of supporting veterans in the sport of fly fishing!

“Good afternoon to our friends at Mad River!

I just wanted to reach out and let you all know that we used the donations from the fly fishing film festival for some great items for the veterans.

We had group meals after multiple fishing events, which we all know is a great way to connect after a day of fishing. We also purchased the necessary items for 6 veterans to build their own fly rods which we plan to pursue this fall/winter. We purchased all of the float trips for our 2025 steelhead trip and 2 additional floats locally to get new veterans on the water. Lastly, we purchased event t-shirts for every person across the state participating in Patriot’s Day, our biggest Project Healing Waters event of the year. We also paid for some boring but necessary house keeping items to keep the lights on.

Katie was on the water with Hobie and Rebecca and they had an awesome day! The fish were fired up. The top water bite was unreal and the steamer fishing was just as good!

What a great White River Trip update from Alan, who went on the epic fly fishing trip with us to Arkansas!
