Kelli Howiler Bowling

Today was the COHSBC all star tournament! This tournament was seriously so freaking fun! I got the privilege of bowing with 4 other wonderful ladies! We fell a little bit short of first but we got second! As a team the first game we shot over 1000 pins!! Today for me I bowled a 217, 290, and a 186! The 290 is my new high game ever!! I was 7 pins shy of a 700 series which is disappointing but at least I got my new high game beat by 33 pins! This game also might go down in the school records! Now I just have to get one more strike in a row to have the permanent high game! I got tournament mvp for the girls! I am so honored to have been apart of this tournament and I hope to participate again next year!!!

On Wednesday we had our bowling banquet! I was so happy to see everyone again and sad to say goodbye to the seniors! For the girls I won MVP of the year! I had the high game on the team for the season, second for all time. I was in the top five for every other statistic don’t remember exactly want place within that for the rest minus one. I found out that I broke the school record for season high total pins! The previous record was a 8,478 and I had 8,578! I was so happy to hear that I broke a single record already as well as the baker game for teams this season! I really am so proud of the season I had and can’t wait for next season to start already!!!

Today I bowled in my second JTBA tournament. Just to start off today was rough. I bowled a 236, 177, 174, 164, and then a 147. As the day went on I got super confused as everything I tried just did not work. I think it was a mix of tiredness from bowling states yesterday and then being the first individual tournament of the year. Even though I did not bowl great I still made the cut. In the first matchplay round I shot a 171 and a 132. The last game I could not stay consistent and the ball was just hooking like crazy. I also was kinda nervous since it was my first time bowling in matchplay and yet I was also not super consistent with my technique. I am just going to use today as a learning experience and plus I made it to matchplay unlike my first ever JTBA last season. I hope at the next one I can show even more improvement but we will come to that when that day comes! Now onto the rest of the tournaments I have set up for march and the rest of the year!

Yesterday I bowled in states! I bowled individuals. The first game I shot a 166, 216, and a 177 for a 560 series. For my freshman year I really impressed myself. I stayed in the top 6 females in the central Ohio division all season, I never had an average under 180, and I made it all the way to states! I did not expect getting even half of the things I did this season. We broke a school record and I even broke school records for states. I made the high series in states for pickerington boys and girls, as the boys have never made it, but I beat the previous by about 50 pins I believe. I seriously am so excited for next season but I am also stoked to bowl in other non high school tournaments and leagues agan! Goodbye freshman year, you will be remembered as my best season so far in my bowing career! We will see you next season for sophomore year!🤍

I forgot to say this in my first post but me going to states makes it the third time in school history that Pickerington High School Central has had either a team or a single individual make it to states! The first time they went my sister was on the team that made it!!

Along with making it to states, I am now a youth ambassador for Bowlifi!! Today was district’s. In individuals I bowled a 180, 216, and 224. For a 620 series. For teams we didn’t bowl great. Our bakers definitely could have been better butI did all in my power as the anchor to make the games as good as they could be. The team do not make it to states unfortunately. We placed 4th and missed the cut by 183 pins. On the other hand I made it for individuals! I placed second out of all of the girls! I now have states on March 7th. I am the second person ever to make it to states out of pickerington high school central. This is the third time the school as had a single person or a team make it to states! My sister made it to states with the team and made it the first time central went to states for bowling. Now I am the third person to do it! I am so sad that I don’t get to bowl with my team anymore this season. I know that we have the ability to make it next year though. Overall this season was a success with my team. This season has showed me that I am capable of doing good and can do big things. Thank you to everyone who has supported and showed up for me throughout my bowling career. Thank you also to Tom Carters Pro Shop and Training Center for all of my equipment and training. Now onto states!

I would just like to say thank you to everyone who voted for me for the central ohios female high school bowler of the year. I am completely honored to have been apart of the list. I was surprised to place third out of the 12 girls on the list! I really appreciate the love i saw and received during this competition. I never realized how many people I truly had in my corner and want to see me succeed. It really did make me realize that I have such an amazing support group and it is a lot bigger than I thought it was. I really do appreciate everyone voting and participating even though I didn’t win! Congratulations to Delaney on winning! Now onto districts tomorrow!!

Yesterday me and my team bowled in sectionals for central ohio! I bowled a 218, 199, and a 222 for a 639! With that series I got second out of all the girls! My team also had a great day! We as a team shot 3388! With that score it put us in 3rd out of all of the teams!! I am so grateful to be able to move on with my team and even just move on at all! I can’t wait to bowl in districts next tuesday with my team! I am so proud of this team and so happy that our season isn’t over yet! Now onto districts!!
