After a weekend at baseball and softball tournaments and lot of reflection, I've decided to close the chapter on 956 Athletics

I really tried to build something that our communities didn't have. We opened our doors, created opportunities, invested in athletes, and gave countless hours to help young players grow both on and off the field.

But if I'm being honest, the game has changed for me. And for the last year, I tried to create an environment where athletes could compete, improve, support one another, and simply enjoy the game. A place where hard work mattered, where opportunities were earned, and where kids could grow without all the noise.

I didn't accomplish that the way I hoped I would.
And that's okay. Not every chapter is meant to last forever. Not every story has a good ending.

What I do know is that life is too short to spend it carrying things that steal your peace..

To the teams, athletes and families who trusted me, supported me, and allowed me to be part of your journey, thank you. I'll always be grateful for that.

As for me, I'm choosing a different path now.
No bitterness. No anger. No grudges.

Just gratitude for the good memories, lessons learned from the difficult ones, and a desire to focus on what matters most.

Onto life.

Alec Salazar is currently a Catcher/Utility at Texas Southern University, a former 4-year starter at Edcouch-Elsa, and an All-State selection.

Now he's bringing that experience back home to help the next generation of athletes in the 956 develop their game, build confidence, and compete at a higher level.

Still have a few trainers left to announce, schedules to finalize, and we’re currently finishing counts for our free stations and getting to calls and messages.

The response and support has honestly been bigger than expected, and I truly appreciate the patience while we organize everything the right way for our athletes, parents, and teams.

Booking system will be launching shortly along with trainer schedules, program details, and more announcements.
