When we were asked if Cole would want to race with Darren Amidon we had a lot of questions. A lot of concerns. We didn’t take the decision or opportunity lightly. We asked the questions, gathered the information and did the homework so we felt it would be the right place for him to be. Having him literally across the country doing what he loves was challenging to wrap our heads around. It hasn’t been easy, especially not being at every race being present every time he straps into his car. Trusting someone else to do what is best for your kid. We have zero regrets and feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity for Cole. He and Darren are a great team and are able to communicate like they’ve been doing it forever. Cole gets exactly what he needs from his car and from Darren both on track and off. Additionally, Jeremy Doss Motorsports asked if Cole would like to race some of the NorCal Series. Same thought process and research. Get the facts for your driver! Jeremy and Cole have had a lot of fun and he has taught Cole priceless skills. They have the same relationship….knowing what’s needed before it’s said. You cannot put a price tag on great driver development. We have had year full of highs, lows, lessons learned, skills acquired and friends that became family.
When choosing to partner with a race team, do your research. Talk to people that have been directly involved with and around whoever you might choose. Before investing the money ask yourself…do I want a fast car or do I want a great fast car and amazing driver development ? Do I want a team that will build a great car and throw my driver to the wolves or a team that will build a great car as well teach my driver to drive with respect for their equipment as well as others. To take responsibility and own their mistakes, be aware of what’s going on around and ahead of them, have integrity and the skill to act in the moment.
There are a lot of race teams out there. A lot. There is a very small number of great teams. Teams that build great cars and teach the skills to be a great driver. And then there are teams that simply need to do better for their drivers.
Do the research. And a lot of it. Take the time before you invest your time and money. It will pay off in the end. Reputation and word of mouth go a long way. I encourage you to share this for anyone looking to partner with a race team.

After leading all but the last 4 laps of the race at Dillon Saturday, Cole was involved in an incident that didn’t need to happen. He is sore and resting, it cost him the race his next couple races as well as a car. He will be back soon better than ever.
