LIMITS - A few weeks ago invited me to Charlotte Motor Speed way to learn how to race their Mach 1’s 🏎️

I own one of these cars and have driven it pretty hard. A few times I thought to myself, if I took this corner a little faster, I’ll spin out. I thought I was driving it at the limit 💥

On the track in Charlotte, cornering at 105mph, I realized I’ve actually only been driving at 60% of the actual limit of the car 💨

The whole experience has me thinking about other areas of my life that I may have limiting beliefs that are holding me back from what is truly possible 🚀

One thing is certain, you will only rise to the level where you believe the limit is 💯

You are capable of MUCH MUCH more than you think 🧐

GETTING LOST - It’s been a few weeks since I got back from my backpacking trip. We did a total of 105km in 5 days. 🥾 🏕

This trail was a lot more technical then previous trips, up and down mountains, across ridges, through swamps, about 30% of people turn back or don’t complete it. ⛰

Long hikes, carrying your gear, navigating, filtering water, making camp, no internet, no phone, really puts things into perspective. 📵

I had a few realizations on this trip 💡

1) I’m always trying to change people, help them become the best version of themselves but I can’t want it for them more than they want it for themselves. My role is to support change, not lead it. 🤝

2) I always choose the path of suffering as I equate suffering to success. Why not take the easy path? There are times where you will need to suffer and work hard but it doesn’t always have to be this way. 💪🏻

These backpacking trips give me the space to do the deep thinking and reflection on my life. 🤔

Sometimes you need to get lost to find yourself ✌️

Want to know the #1 reason your company is unbalanced? You might not like the answer, but here it is: YOU.

You. You’re the reason your company is unbalanced. Nothing else. Not your employees. Not your clients. Not your spouse, your partner, or your kid’s sports coach.

Those 90+ hour weeks you’re working? Yeah that’s not helping. Because whenever you’re in the trenches firing on all cylinders you’re losing sight of the big picture.

How did you get in this position? Easy. You’re a Wild Horse.

You’re a passionate, driven, talented, traumatized misunderstood genius who runs faster and harder than everyone else and you get results.

Why else would you become an entrepreneur? Problem is you have major blindspots.

And sure, that hustle mindset is important when you’re first building your company and getting it off the ground.

But when you’re managing a team of five, ten, fifty or a hundred people, any imbalance in your life is going to ripple out and cause negative effects that could take months or even years to untangl

‘If I make, like, three good decisions a day, that’s enough, and they should just be as high quality as I can make them.’ -Jeff Bezos

Believe it or not, most billionaires don’t hustle. They focus on making good, clean decisions that pay off long term.

In order to do that, you need to constantly have an overview picture in your head of how your business is performing.

That’s why the 4 Sliders tool is so effective. In less than a minute you can look at it and find out exactly where your blind spots are so you can start fixing them.

Bruce and I sat down a few months ago to talk about realities of the world we live in. We spoke about bullying, we spoke about child trafficking, I explained to him that unfortunately there are bad people in this world that do bad things.

I told him that he needs to learn to defend himself, that he needs to learn about discipline and honor. I was going to enroll him in Jiu Jitsu and he can either choose to stop going once he is 18 or he has a black belt.

During his first class, he sat quietly on the side of the matts, refusing to participate. He didn’t want to go back. We talked about it and I told him I was okay if he just wanted to sit on the side and watch but not going back wasn’t an option.

Fast forward 4 weeks later and not only does he participate, he loves going to Jiu Jitsu every week.

Sometimes we have to do things in life that we don’t initially want to. As a father, sometimes we have to make hard decisions to create an environment that is best for our children even if they don’t like it.

I’m proud of this little man ❤️

HOW TO GROW YOUR REPUTATION

Reputation by word of mouth has always been and will always to be the most effective marketing strategy for our species.

Trust is a network. We go to our friends for advice all the time. And if they have a high believability factor, it’s pretty likely we’ll act on their advice.

Building a reputation takes time. Here’s a simple formula to get you started right away.

Date night with .anile

Between raising kids, running multiple businesses together and managing all the other pieces of our life I never want to be in a position where I get into autopilot mode and take this relationship for granted.

Marriage is a commitment, not a finish line, which means you have to constantly put effort in.

I've been talking a lot about the power of attention and the importance of who you give it to.

So it was so good to just go out and have a great night together at

Elina is an incredible mom. She sacrifices everything of herself and is one of the most capable people I’ve ever met.

She is very assertive. She's very direct. She likes to go after the things that make her happy.

She doesn't put up with anyone's bu****it. That's why we work together. Because for all my talk about wild horses I just might be one too. 😁

I respect Elina tremendously. She makes me a better business person, a better father and a better man.

And I can't wait to take her out again soon. :)

Attention is a currency.

And just like every other investment, the more intentional you are with it, the better your results are going to be.

So don’t waste your attention. Get off your phone and go have a real conversation with somebody.

When you’re done, ask yourself what feels better:

Scrolling through your social media feed until 3AM, or being present and forming a meaningful connection with someone?

Ok. Thanks for giving me your attention. You can have it back now.

And if you ever want my attention, just send me a DM :)
