As a young parent, you’ll have a wild idea to put your kid on skis and sign them up for the local race team.

It’s very important that you do.

Because years later...those gates, those friends, those freezing early mornings, those heart-pounding finishes - they become everything.

And the lifelong gift of skiing? It lasts forever.

This year, LMRT says farewell to three seniors - Claire Superczynski, JP Andrews, and Sienna Gala. We are so thankful to their parents for having that wild idea years ago and acting on it.

To our seniors: thank you for everything you’ve given this team! Although we say farewell for now, we can’t wait to see you ripping on snow again soon. Keep the passion alive - the snow isn’t going anywhere, and neither is this family.

The racing season is long. The early mornings are real. The gear bags are heavy and the coffee never seems to last long enough.

But weekends like this past one are a great end-of-season reminder of why we do this.

More than 50 of us from LMRT descended on the Governors Cup at - ages 7 to 70, parents included - and the energy was all time. The cheering was loud. The camaraderie was real.

Hat tip to Timberline and the Timberline Race Team for an incredible two days of racing!

And when it was over, we filled 31 spots on the podium across , , and combined - and even shared the podium with our .whitetail friends!

We’re solidly in the post season - it’s time to turn up the !

What a weekend at U12 State Championships!!!!

put on an absolute clinic of an event - sunny and warm to start, wet and cold by the end. Classic ski racing. Our kids handled all of it.

State Championships sounds intimidating. And honestly? It is. But it’s also commemorative hoodies, a ’mores party, a pizza fest, and a weekend of friendships built across age groups and across teams. Our crew was the loudest on that hill - cheering each other through every single run, from the start gate to the awards. Siblings, parents, the whole LMRT family showing up loud and proud.

That’s the stuff you remember.

Making it to this day was the real win for every one of these kids. The season of early mornings, long drives, and hard work on that hill - it all led here. And we couldn’t be more proud of every athlete who raced this weekend.

AND NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS

After an incredible weekend of racing, four of our U12 girls - Pichamon Tulachom, Arielle Shif, Elin Bussey, and Hadley Miller - and U12 boy Jack Deming have earned spots on the Pennsylvania State Team. They’re headed to , NH to represent PA at the Francis Piché Invitational.

That’s LMRT on the Eastern stage. FULL SEND!

To everyone else - back to the grindstone. We train. We get better. We have fun. We show up next season ready. That’s what this team does!

What a weekend. What a team!!!

Liberty Mountain Race Team set to hold tryouts for speed-loving skiers 02/17/2026

WBAL-TV 11 Baltimore came out to see what we're all about, and Sean Streicher crushed it!

"This isn't New England, it's not Colorado. So, yeah, it's a big surprise for people that there's actually ski racing in the area." - Matt Superczynski, LMRT President

That's the thing. We've been doing this since 1976. 100 athletes. 75 families. Kids ripping gates in the dark, in the cold, in the blowing snow - not because it's easy, but because it builds something.

The are on TV this month. Ski racing is also happening right here, a short drive from and .

Tryouts are this weekend. Link in bio.

U16 GS - Jan 31-Feb 1

As January turned into February our U16 athletes took on two races at Elk Mountain. The weather was extremely cold and the surface was more challenging than normal, with a soft top over a solid base. Our athletes showed their mettle, though. For our young men, Ben Smith got 7th in the first GS race and Austin Ihnat got 10th in the second race. Our young women did even better, with Brielle Superczynski racing to 3rd in the first race and winning the second race! Additionally, Sabrina Gala sped to 6th in the first race and tied for 3rd in the second race!

Super proud of all of our athletes!

The Wengen of the Keystone State™️. Chairlift passing overhead, cold morning, fast course, and a race named for someone who loved this sport and these mountains enough that still honors him every winter.

That’s the Richard Whitney Memorial Slalom. And two weeks ago LMRT showed up.

U10 Girls: Olivia Maneen 1st | Parker Sheehan 2nd

U12 Girls: Pichamon Tulachom 1st | Arielle Shif 3rd

U12 Boys: Jack Deming 2nd

to . That’s a race day. And every LMRT athlete out there made every hour of it count.

Proud of all of them!

The MilanoCortina2026 are on. Your kid is watching ski racing with the same intensity they usually reserve for YouTube videos. They’re asking questions. Big questions. “Can I do that?”

Here’s the thing: Yeah. They can. Not tomorrow. Not at the Olympics (not yet). But they can start. Right here. Right now. At Liberty Mountain Resort. With us.

LMRT Tryouts
Feb 14, 15, 21

Must be 7 by end of year. Beyond that? Check the website, https://www.libertyracing.org/try-outs for more details. We’ve got programs from Future Stars to FIS Alpine World Cup Tour points. From kids learning what gates are to teenagers hunting college scholarships. All of it starts the same way: showing up and finding out what you’re capable of.

Will they make the Olympics? Statistically, no. Will they learn to carve turns, push through fear, work as a team, discover what they’re actually made of, and have absolute blast while doing so? Absolutely. https://www.libertyracing.org/try-outs for requirements, programs, and registration.

The Olympics happen every four years. Your kid’s chance to start is right now. LMRT is waiting.

Let’s go!

Last Wednesday Speed Camp at rolled right into a proper Super-G race. Coach set the course and our athletes took on the challenge. In the U14 races, Matild Macskasi got 3rd in the first race, and Ishaan Aich got 3rd in both races. In the U16/18 races, Elle Awanohara won the second race (by 0.01 seconds!) and Desmo Treiber came in 2nd in the second race after a clutch recovery on the headwall pitch. Other LMRT athletes had top ten finishes in the U18/21 races - kudos to Lujza Macskasi, Brielle Superczynski, and Ben Smith for turning in great performances. And props to all LMRT athletes who got out of their comfort zones to race super-G!

A special shout out to parents who helped set multiple layers of B-nets along the trail. Also: special thanks to the crew at and the project for helping make this happen!! Truly an amazing experience for our athletes.
