It’s time to give credit where credit is due.

A huge shoutout to the incredible footing team at the Georgia International Horse Park - and when I say team, I truly mean team.

Behind the scenes are two dedicated tractors, two water trucks, skilled equipment operators and a Park Director who have all completed the Footing Academy.

The Park has made a significant investment in education, equipment operators, and arena improvements. Arenas 4, 7, 16, and the Large Oval have all been completely rebuilt from the base up and plans are in place to renovate remaining arenas. This is a remarkable commitment to our sport and everyone who competes here.

If you haven’t joined us at the Horse Park recently we invite you to come experience the difference.

Producing and maintaining good footing is a partnership. As show managers, we work closely with the Park team to coordinate ring scheduling, watering, and dragging throughout each show weekend. Protecting the footing is one of our highest priorities, and we appreciate that it is a priority for our exhibitors as well.

The rings are maintained throughout the weekend prior to the show. And each morning the Park’s team and I meet to develop a detailed water and drag plan for the day.

Weather is part of the equation too. When storms are approaching, we will occasionally pause schooling or competition to drag and seal the rings. While these brief delays can be inconvenient, they are an important investment in maintaining safe, high quality footing for the remainder of the weekend.

Thank you to the entire Georgia International Horse Park Team for your professionalism, hard work and ongoing commitment to providing outstanding footing for our exhibitors.

We appreciate everything you do.

Congratulations Nicola Auman- Horse Show Ventures Summer Classic II Sportsmanship Award Winner!

Well deserved. This is a story of cheerful perseverance and grit that we’ve had the opportunity to witness these past two weeks.

Nicola just moved up from a pony to a large horse- who sometimes has opinions. Moving up from a pony to a horse is a big enough change.

Nicola participated in our Cat Driscoll Clinic a couple of weeks ago as well and there were some challenges at times.

Here she is this week showing and with a smile! It didn’t go perfectly every time but she made progress which = success! Cat would be proud. Cathleen Driscoll

When the office was counting the Sportsmanship nominations on Sunday - the jumper gate radioed into the office - if it’s not too late - I have a nomination- Caroline replied- ok but that rider has already won- she’s on these ballots multiple times.

We see each of you. We are rooting for you, and we appreciate grit with a great attitude. 🏆.

Well done!

Well done!

Goals!

Good luck to all the riders with their goals this weekend!

Competition was intense!

Check out our pre trip interviews as riders shared intel on their mounts and goals for the class.

This year boasted a strong field of all comers. Ages 3-50.

The course was demanding, especially in the Georgia Summer heat, luckily there was a water feature at the end.

This year the course designer presented a medal type course of six jumps featuring rollbacks and a tricky combination. Only one rider went down momentarily, but made a quick recovery.

This was also an open breed class- and we saw an interesting mix of mounts. The roster including purebred hobby horses, some mixed breed plastic cousins, pool noodle breeds, and a first this year- a mini garden rake breed.

It was a grand afternoon.

Camaraderie was high. Competitors paired up to assist younger entries thru the course.

Fun was had by all. Then we cooled off with ice cream! 🍦Perfect summer day.
