Former Spring Lake Park Boys Golf standout and longtime supporter of our program, Troy Merritt (Varsity Coach Tim Merritt’s brother) has been putting together an incredible week at the 3M Open right here in Blaine!

Heading into the final round on Sunday, teeing off at 11:15AM, Troy sits T15 at -12 under par, competing against some of the best players in the world!

Troy has never forgotten his Panther roots, and we’re proud to cheer on one of our own, as he continues to represent Spring Lake Park with class, perseverance, and excellence.

Good luck today, Troy! The ENTIRE Panther community is behind you! ⛳️

⛳️ Panthers supporting Panthers. 💙❤️🤍. Lleyton Pound, Max Birdwell, and James Payment traded a summer day for a day of giving back, teeing it up at the Panther Foundation Golf Tournament in support of Spring Lake Park Schools.

The Panther Foundation helps enhance educational opportunities, activities, and athletics by funding programs that benefit students across the Spring Lake Park School District.

We’re proud to see these SLP Boys Golf athletes representing our program with character, service, and Panther Pride. Awesome job!

The Panthers wrapped up an incredible season with a 5th-place finish at the MSHSL Class AAA State Championship.

Congratulations to Chase Birdwell on an outstanding State Runner-Up finish with a combined two day score of 140 (Day One, 71 and Day Two, 69). Noah Grassman was four shots behind with a combined score of 144 ( 72/72) earning 11th place individually. Both competed at an elite level against the best high school golfers in Minnesota.

Most importantly, we’re proud of this entire team. They battled, supported one another, and represented the Spring Lake Park community with class and pride all season long!

Thank you to our coaches, families, teachers, SLP School District Staff, and Panther fans for your support and encouragement throughout our season‘s journey! Your continued dedication to our success in academics and golf is appreciated and felt! Thank you to Bunker Hills Golf Club for the time and effort you have put into the course and facilities throughout our entire season of conference, section and now state play! Thank you to MSHSL Golf Hub Minnesota State High School League MSHSL SPORTS for all of the hard work and planning that has gone into the quick golf season!

The best part? Every player on this state tournament team is returning next season. We’ll learn from this experience, get stronger, and be ready to tackle even bigger goals in 2027!

State tournaments are never easy, and today was no exception. Our guys battled through adversity, stayed committed to the process, and kept fighting all day long.

As a result, we’re exactly where we want to be heading into Day 2 — 2nd place as a team with everything still to play for.

A huge thank you to all of the family, friends, alumni, and Panther supporters who came out today. Your energy and encouragement made a difference and our players felt it every step of the way.

Tomorrow, we need even more Panther Nation behind us. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring everyone you know, and wear Panther Blue as we make one final push.

One more day. One more opportunity. Let’s go compete.
