Hooray for Tom Walsh and his generosity, perseverance, and spirit. We are very grateful for the funds he has raised for Otsego Outdoors and cancer patient assistance fund at Bassett

For seven years and counting, Tom Walsh, a local resident and cancer survivor, has challenged himself to hike for days on end to raise awareness and funding for Otsego Outdoors and our cancer patient assistance fund. This fund provides support to patients in financial need who are going through treatment.

This year, Tom raised $6,000, which he split equally between both causes. Thank you, Tom! Your generosity and outdoorsmanship are so inspiring!

Have some fishing gear you no longer use? Donate to Dave Brandt Chapter 210 of Trout Unlimited and they will use to raise funds for educational programs that teach kids to fish and Trout in the Classroom programs

Here's some wisdom: "For many hikers, the biggest challenge is giving permission to make time for themselves again. But what’s always true is that a 45-minute hike is infinitely better than a 6-hour hike that never happens."

One tip: Don't let the perfect time, day or weather be the enemy of a good trek.
