For Coach Sarah Nielsen, the best part of coaching is seeing the difference between the beginning of a season and the end.
In her 26th year of teaching and coaching, she still gets fulfillment from watching athletes learn, master new skills and grow in confidence along the way.
Just as important are the relationships built throughout that process. Nielsen hopes she is remembered for her character, positive attitude, high energy and the way she treats people with kindness and respect.

Push them hard. Keep them laughing.
That’s the balance Coach Lukas Moberg hopes his athletes remember.
His experience living in Japan taught him the importance of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes and understanding that every student brings a different perspective. It’s a lesson that has helped shape him into a more patient and understanding coach.
At Coppell Middle School West, Moberg coaches tennis, soccer and cross country while teaching Texas history.
And as he puts it, maybe he wasn’t always the nicest coach, but hopefully he was the funniest.
For Coach Jeff Myers, the lessons from competing in college basketball and track still shape the way he coaches today.
At Coppell Middle School East, he emphasizes resilience, hard work and staying with it when things get difficult. More than anything, he hopes students remember him as someone they could count on.

Coach Devin Ewing’s growth has come from getting more comfortable being uncomfortable.
As an assistant coach for Coppell Cross Country and Track, she has learned to take on more, take risks and trust herself in bigger moments.
That same mindset shapes the way she coaches. Ewing wants her athletes to know she cares about them, will do what is best for them and will keep pushing them toward the best version of themselves.

Eight years at Coppell have changed the way Coach Allen Oh looks at coaching.
Early on, his focus was primarily on his football position group or specific track event. Today, his goal is bigger: build relationships throughout the program and get to know athletes whether he directly coaches them or not.
Above all, he wants to be remembered as a coach who did everything he could to get the best out of kids, both on and off the field.

For Coach Alyssa Noonan, one of Coppell Tennis’ proudest moments came when the team overcame tough opponents, qualified for the state tournament and made history for the school.
But the legacy she hopes to leave goes beyond results. She wants her athletes to remember that she cared about them, had their best interests at heart and taught lessons they can carry with them long after tennis.
