In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the University of Houston built the most dominant college golf program in NCAA history. Under Coach Dave Williams, 40 players competed every week for just 5 roster spots. The pressure was relentless.

Jim was one of those players.

His teammates? John Mahaffey. Bill Rogers. Fuzzy Zoeller. Bruce Lietzke. Between them — a PGA Championship, The Open Championship, The Masters, a U.S. Open, and 13 PGA Tour wins.

None of them knew what was coming. They were just college kids fighting for a spot.

The Houston Dynasty is that story — and everything it taught Jim about competition, coaching, and what it takes to build something that lasts.
