When babies swim, their bodies are supported by the water. That means they can focus on balancing. Kicking movements help children learn to coordinate both sides of their bodies. They can also try new things without fear of falling or crashing into hard objects.
Babies who have taken infant swim lessons often have better balance than children who don’t. In fact, one study showed that children who learned to swim as babies continued to have better balance than their peers at age five. 👏

As parents, it's our responsibility to ensure the safety of our swimmers while they enjoy the water. Here are some ways you can Think Like a Lifeguard and create a fun and safe environment for your kids!
1. Prioritize Water Safety: Before jumping in, it's important to have a conversation with your kids about water safety and set some ground rules. Rules should include no running on the pool deck and no swimming without an adult present and closely watching them.
2. Dress your kids in bright-colored swimsuits so they stand out in the water!
3. Designate a responsible adult as the "Safer Swimmer Guard" who will actively supervise the kids during swim time.

As parents, we know that drowning is always a big concern. According to the CDC, it's the leading cause of death for kids ages 1 to 4 years old. The good news is that swim lessons have been shown to decrease the chance of drowning!
In a study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by a whopping 88%!
And you know what's even better? Starting them young! Introducing children to the water early on helps them get comfortable and confident around it, and helps them to build a love and respect for the water. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends starting children in swim lessons as young as one to really boost their water safety journey!

How do the babies and children know to hold their breath?
Breath-holding skills are taught in the first lesson. We shape breath control using highly effective positive reinforcement techniques.

Children will enjoy social interaction with parents, instructors, and other children during their swim lessons. Parent participation gives you an opportunity to bond with your child one-on-one. Swimming builds confidence that your baby can take outside of the pool. He or she will be accustomed to interacting with other children and adults through the shared experience of swimming lessons. Swimming is a fun activity for children, so teaching your baby early means he or she doesn’t have to miss out later when friends are swimming.

Babies who take infant swim lessons will work up an appetite just like older children will. Make sure you have a snack or milk ready when swimming lessons are done! Swimming can also help your baby sleep longer. Using up all that energy while they’re swimming will make babies sleepier later on.
