With increased tropical moisture in the region and a frontal system approaching the area this weekend, South Texas is in for a rainier week. These are the latest forecast rainfall amounts through Friday. While not everyone will see exactly these values, these tropical downpours are capable of producing rainfall on the high-end of the forecast. Where a storm moves over, visibility will quickly drop along with ponding/flash flooding. Make sure to remember when you come across a flooded road: Turn Around, Don't Drown!

Friday
Knee to waist high and weak but clean with very light east winds. The forecast predicts similar conditions thru the weekend. Air temp 81, water temp 79, wind E at 3-4 mph

Tuesday
Chest to head high and lumpy with moderate ESE winds and flooded beaches. The forecast predicts less wind thru the weekend with a bit smaller surf . Air temp 76, water temp 79, wind ESE at 10-15 mph

Due to a change in the contractor's schedule, the following changes to the Federal Highways Administration resurfacing paving project have been made:

⛺The Malaquite Campground and dump station will now be closed from April 25th to May 28th.

⚓Bird Island Basin boat ramp and parking lot will now be closed and inaccessible from May 3rd to May 15th.

Beginning April 27th and continuing through May 12th, the national seashore will undergo road resurfacing and paving managed by the Federal Highways Administration. During this period, several areas will experience temporary closures, including the Bird Island Basin boat ramp and parking area, as well as the Malaquite Campground and dump station.

‍🚫 ⛺The Malaquite Campground and dump station will be closed from April 25th to May 8th.

🚫 ⚓Bird Island Basin boat ramp and parking lot will be closed and inaccessible from April 29th to May 3rd.

Visitors should anticipate delays on the main park road and the road leading to Bird Island Basin throughout the project's duration.

Please keep in mind that the timeline for this work may shift due to weather conditions or contractor equipment availability. Thank you for your understanding and patience as these improvements are made.
