Evidently it is International Woman’s Day. In that spirit many don’t realize that the first ITF woman international instructor was/is GM Gwen F Hall who still teaches to this day! She brought Taekwon-Do (ITF) to Panama 🇵🇦! She was the first 3rd, 4th, 5th Dan ITF international instructor! The first ITF female to obtain the ITF Recognition plaque (turtle plaque) and ITF Kwan (USA NGB/INO) certificate before the creation of the NGB single organization (political/money appointment)
She started the martial arts in 1962 and was a black belt with the Kang Moo Kwan when they followed Gen. Choi into the ITF. She was promoted to master level by none other then GM Nam, Tae-hi!
There have been many female master and grandmasters that have followed in her foot steps but it’s clear, she was the one who “hacked” through that jungle first! 😉

On 9th November 2020, we would have been celebrating our Taekwon-do Founder, General Choi Hong Hi’s 102nd birthday. We should all take the time to remember him and be thankful for the gift that he has given all of us.
Although I frequently think about my Taekwon-do father, and fondly remember many happy times spent with him, I always feel that his spirit is with me when I am teaching.
I believe that General Choi’s dream for the future was for all Taekwon-do practitioners to come together in a peaceful and harmonious manner, as taught by our tenets and oath. If enough of us are open to communicate, learn and grow together, we can one day achieve our Founder’s dream.
