We are cleaning out the ranch, and with summer wrapping up, we have several kids’ summer camp horses, lesson horses, beginner trail mounts, fun farm animals, and ranch equipment looking for a new home.

JOHN DEERE RIDING MOWER — $500
Older mower with low hours. Does have two flat tires but runs and has been serviced through John Deere. We purchased a new mower, so we are not replacing the tires before selling.

3-PIECE ROPING CHUTE — $1,500
Includes battery box.

Totally refurbished and ready to go.

~ANNA — SUPER-SAFE GAITED MARE

$2,000

Age: Senior, 18+
Height: 14.3 hh
Breed: Saddlebred / Gaited Pacer
Color: Bay

Training: Beginner English flat, Western trail, walk/trot. She is gaited and does not have a traditional lope. Also drives.

Experience: Beginner lesson horse in both English and Western, trail horse, kids’ summer camp horse, and parade experience.

Temperament: 2/10. Great in a herd without a lot of typical mare behavior. She can get a little barn sour, but it is easily corrected. Rides out alone or in a group.

Give her 2–3 days in a new environment to look around and settle in, and she is good to go.

Farrier

Best Fit: Older child, approximately 8+, or anyone who can put a little leg on her. She can be lazy, but once you get her moving, she will go just about anywhere.

Health: Current vaccines and Coggins. Farrier current; due for dental float.

Maintenance: None. Sound.

~GUS — THE BIG SWEETHEART

Age: Senior, 18+
Height: 17 hh
Breed: Belgian Draft
Color: Palomino

Training: Beginner Western trail horse and driving horse. Walk/trot/lope.

Experience: Beginner lessons, trail riding, kids’ summer camps, and parades.

Temperament: 1/10. Wonderful, quiet, sweet-as-a-peach gelding. This is the kind of big guy we have trusted with a wide range of riders.

Would make a fantastic husband horse, family trail horse, or confidence-building mount.

Best Fit: Wide range of riders. His biggest consideration is simply his size — he is a BIG boy, so if mounting from the ground is difficult, you will want a mounting block.

Health: Current vaccines and Coggins. Due for farrier; our current farrier does not work on drafts.

Maintenance: Sound.
Important Disclosure: Gus has sweet itch. We currently have heavy sand flies in South Texas, and managing it has been a struggle. He came from up north and had no issues until approximately one month after arriving in South Texas.

He also has an old muzzle scar from his previous Amish halter/harness setup. It does not affect him.

~ODIN — PLAYDAY / RODEO STEP-UP HORSE

Height: 16 hh
Breed: Thoroughbred — Polo Papers
Color: Bay

Training: Playday / rodeo events:

Cloverleaf barrels
Straight barrels
Pole bending
Goat tying
Stakes race

Experience: Step-up youth playday horse with gears and speed.

This is not a first-ever mount, but he is a fantastic option for the kid ready to move up and become competitive.

Temperament: 4/10. Sweet, sweet, sweet gelding. He has speed and can be a little jumpy during the first few minutes, but once he gets past that initial excitement, he settles in and goes to work.

Hauling environments

Best Fit: Intermediate youth rider who wants to compete. He is currently winning and hauling well. This is the kind of horse that could become significantly more valuable with continued seasoning and a proven record.

Health: Current vaccines and Coggins.

Maintenance: None. Sound.

Important Disclosure: Odin has a clouded eye / history consistent with a “moon eye.” He currently appears to retain vision in that eye. PPE is absolutely welcome and encouraged.

~FIRE FLY — PLAYDAY PONY

Age: Estimated 12–15, possibly younger
Height: Approximately 12 hands
Breed: Pony
Color: Bay

Training: Western playday events.

Experience: Beginner/intermediate lessons and playday events.

Temperament: 5/10. She can be a little hard to catch, but comes to a feed bucket every time.

She may act head shy, but once you learn her cues, she has some fun tricks. Great little pony with plenty of personality.

Best Fit: Handy kid. She can move and would make a fun little playday pony for a confident child who enjoys a pony with some personality and tricks.

🫏 TAQUITO — MINI DONKEY / BEER DONKEY / HOBBY FARM

Age: Unknown — younger
Height: Approximately 12 hands
Breed: Mini Jerusalem Donkey
Color: Gray

Training: Hobby Farm, pack saddle trained, and has been started in driving.

Experience: Used extensively in a Hobby Farm setting and as a Beer Donkey. Started as a single-driving donkey.

Temperament: 1/10. Very friendly, super sweet, and ridiculously cute.

He does best with an animal friend leading alongside him. Alone, he can get sticky and decide he does not want to move. With a buddy, he will follow along just about anywhere.

He would benefit from additional work if someone wants him confidently working alone.

Maintenance: None. Sound.

🐮 FLAP JACK — MINI BRAHMAN CROSS STEER

Height: Approximately 48 inches
Breed: Mini Brahman Cross Steer
Color: Gray & White Brindle

Training: Halter broke and started under saddle.

Experience: Bottle baby raised and used extensively in our Hobby Farm. Very hands-on and accustomed to people.

Temperament: 2–3/10. Super friendly with a great personality.

He has been started under saddle but is not being represented as a finished riding steer.

Because this is a small, hands-on after-school program with limited availability, we are opening enrollment early so parents can feel confident knowing their child has a safe, structured, and enriching place to go when school starts.

Ranch Roots After School Program offers homework assistance, nature-based learning activities, specialty projects, horsemanship, outdoor learning, and life skills in a ranch-based environment.

We will be offering discount rates for these students that are interested in horsemanship riding lessons, swim school, and additional tutoring.

Space is limited to 20 students to ensure each child receives a safe, personal, and hands-on experience.

Camp Weather Outlook Today

10 AM–2 PM: Rain and thunderstorms likely
2 PM–6 PM: Continued scattered showers and thunderstorms
Lightning and heavy downpours may develop quickly
Flood-prone and low-lying areas may collect standing water

For camp operations, I would plan on intermittent weather delays rather than a complete washout. We should have opportunities to rotate activities between indoor, covered, and outdoor stations as conditions allow.
