Compassion Practice. Jai!
We discussed this in class last night. The same skill sets, mindset, relaxed effort, detachment, kindness, friendliness, etc that cause us to heal…. continues down the same pathway to set the foundation for Enlightenment. This healing of our individual deepest causes of suffering also helps us contribute to healing Mother Nature and society. Enlightenment is not a destination, it’s a journey.

Answers are not the goal of spirituality, and a search for certainty is fruitless. It is our acceptance and celebration of the mystery of life we are privileged to be part of, that guides and supports us. It is this connection to Mystery that ultimately brings us joy and freedom.

Silence is a teacher, within it we learn some of the deepest lessons of our lives … There is so much that we do not know, so much that cannot be explained, and we learn to embrace and welcome that mystery. Taking nothing for granted, we enter each moment like a visitor, willing to see anew and to be touched by each unfolding moment. We discover within ourselves the willingness to be surprised and understand that our potential to deepen as a human being relies upon our capacity to be surprised. We learn the joy of the present.

It is human nature to love certain parts of our life and to reject others. But this may cause us to miss the blessings that hide behind distressing disguises. Accepting ourselves as we are brings healing.

Now, more than ever, we must show up with our best selves, we must become (or continue to be) part of the healing, rather than adding to the hurt. … Everything truly depends on our digging beneath the layers of our small, fearful selves, to the bigness that each and every one of us has inside. Everything depends on our resolve to stay in love.

Practicing presence is training ourselves to “show up” … Whenever we realize we’re “absent,” we bring ourselves gently home. No self-blame. Happy New Year my friends. I hope this note finds you and yours well.
As we turn the page on the calendar, most of us spend time reviewing the past year and considering our goals and dreams for the year ahead. As I have contemplated the last year, I find much gratitude and love in my heart for all of you who have unconditionally supported me through the trials and challenges of 2021.
Looking towards 2022, I have decided to keep my classes and private sessions online only for the time being. As the COVID situation changes, I will re-evaluate bringing classes back in-person and hybrid as it feels appropriate to do so. If you have not yet tried the online class, I invite you to give it a go – I’ll even give you your first class free! If you participated at the beginning of the pandemic but dropped out, I urge you to give it another try. I’ve had almost two years now to work out the bugs 😊. (If you have not attended in over a year, consider yourself a first-timer!)
For now, the current schedule of Gentle/Therapeutic Mat classes twice a week and Chair Yoga once per week will continue as previously scheduled. See the Schedule page atmadayayoga.com/schedule/ to learn more. I hope to add another Chair Yoga class back into the mix and welcome suggested timeslots. Additionally, I am now substitute teaching online at my old Westchester (LAX area) California studio, LiveYoga Wellness. Watch their schedule for my cameo appearances!
I will continue to offer Yoga Nidra sessions by donation on most third Sundays of each month. Our first session of 2022 will be on January 16. Mark your calendar now and RSVP to reserve your slot!
I also now offer iRest (Integrative Restoration) Yoga Nidra in one-on-one sessions. iRest is more about Self-Inquiry than relaxation, and yet is it is deeply healing.
Learn more about iRest Yoga Nidra at https://atmadayayoga.com/irest-yoga-nidra/.
In addition to iRest, I also offer private and semi-private general Yoga and Yoga Therapeutic sessions online. No matter where you are located, I can work with you so you can feel better today!
Again, I am deeply grateful for your support in 2021. May 2022 bring us all peace and serenity and good health!
Namaste. Om Shanti.

IMPORTANT ♥️ health information. While blood pressure (BP) 120/80 is considered normal for men, systolic BP OVER 110 in women is a predictor of heart attack and stroke and is equivalent to >160 in men. Also, if the difference in BP between arms is > 10 it is a predictor of heart attack in both men and women. ♥️ disease is the #1 cause of death in women and often the first “symptom “ is death because it affects the smaller blood vessels (micro vascular) thus the symptoms may be milder and often mistaken for anxiety or GI issues.
TIPS: take BP on bare arm resting supported ideally near heart level, feet on floor with legs uncrossed, don’t talk and check both arms. Empty bladder first and wait at least 30 minutes after caffeine or exercise. Inflammation is the cause of ♥️ disease so live a healthy lifestyle including daily exercise and relaxation, positive attitude and healthy diet. Even organic vegetables are nutrient deficient due to industrial farming so find a CSA that uses sustainable farming methods or grow your own as eating lots of healthy nutrient rich plants a key to reducing inflammation and heart health.
Thank you Lori Rubenstein Fazzio

WORD FOR THE DAY - https://bit.ly/wordfortheday
MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW!
Blessings, dear ones!
I would like to announce I am offering another Yoga Nidra Session a week from Sunday, on October 25 at 2:00pm MT (1:00pm PT/4:00pm ET). Mark your calendar now!
WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA?
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation while in Savasana to deeply relax the body. It starts with a prolonged body scan, to release tension and holding in the body, followed by a guided visualization for healing of the heart, head and body. Often affirmations are used to reinforce the healing. This is an effective and powerful practice that has been found to produce profound healing and stress reduction.
WHY SHOULD I DO YOGA NIDRA?
Yoga Nidra, especially in this new world we are living in, can help disperse the underlying anxiety and uncertainty of the times. It works very deeply to calm the nervous system and strengthen immunity. Some have reported that they have been able to release deep-rooted resentments and fears through this process. Additionally, this is an opportunity to escape the monotony of TV, Zoom Meetings, and Work at Home, and do some soothing self-care. Although we will be on Zoom, you can be completely passive and just follow along.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE WORKSHOP?
In this 90-100-minute workshop, we will begin with gentle stretching, and soothing pranayama to calm the nervous system, then move into the Yoga Nidra practice.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT?
You don’t need any special equipment – the practice can be done on the floor, in a chair, on the couch, or even on the bed! I recommend you have a blanket or two and a pillow for your head, and possibly another pillow under your legs to keep your back soft and comfortable. And of course, since we will be in the virtual space, you need a computer, tablet, or phone with a camera and microphone. (you can participate without a camera and microphone, but I won’t be able to see or hear you).
WHAT IS THE CHARGE FOR THIS WORKSHOP?
There is no charge for this workshop, but if you feel moved to make a donation, I ask you to please visit my website www.atmadayayoga.com, and I will bow deeply in gratitude.
If you are interested, please contact me to confirm attendance at [email protected] or text 310-749-8055. I will send the Zoom information on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning to anyone who confirms.
Feel free to share with anyone you think would enjoy and benefit from this deeply relaxing, healing, and restorative practice, and ask them to contact me directly so I can add them to the official list.
I hope I get to see you on the 19th. Wishing you safety, serenity and deep healing.
