There are only FOUR safety rules for handling guns and you have to break TWO of them to have an accident:
1. KEEP your finger OFF the trigger until you are ready to fire.
2. Do NOT POINT YOUR GUN at ANYTHING you do not want to destroy, pay for, or go to jail for.
3. Know what your target is - AND what is behind it before deciding to shoot.
4. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN UNLOADED GUN! You can have an unchambered gun, but unloaded should not even be in your vocabulary because the difference is actually checking and being intentional about it.
Most accidents happen at holstering, un-holstering, and cleaning. Be intentional and be responsible.
There are other rules for being responsible. And for introducing someone to a sport you love. But these four will keep you safe and those around you when you are the one holding the gun.
