I’m so excited to share that I’m now the Mental Performance Coach for the Portland Thorns NWSL team! 🌹⚽️

Accepting this dream role means leaving the amazing army H2F team I’ve been with for 2 years, but I’m grateful to have had such great experiences during that time.

I’ll still be working with athletes in my private practice, and this new role allows me to serve even more high performers in the best way I know how 🧠

Dr. Rachel Hoeft helps athletes and their families craft a mindset to work through life’s toughest challenges.

Being mentally tough does not mean that everything is easy; It means that no matter how difficult things get, you know that you will figure it out.

Taking some time to enhance my coaching skills by working on myself!

My 3-peat surgery knee has been acting up so I’ve had to scale back in my workouts and I am so envious watching everyone else complete exercises where I have to modify.

So I’ve been focusing on simply doing my best where I can. I find other exercises that are comfortable but still challenging. I talk myself through the movements with purpose and encouragement.

Mental performance is about showing up and giving 100% of what you have to give in that moment✨

Loved this last trip around the sun with everyone who helped me foster my passion for sport psychology, allowed me to support them or their athlete, and encouraged me to keep growing. 28 is going to be even better✨

It’s easy to think everyone else has it figured out and that their insights on your life should be trusted.

But they don’t know what’s going to make you most fulfilled, and there are 10 million ways to get to where you want to be. And you might not know those answers either, but those choices are yours to make.

With just less than a month before my Doctoral graduation, here’s a pic of lil Rachel Hoeft, B.S. who had no idea that she’d one day be Rachel Hoeft, PsyD and working with some of the most amazing athletes and sport psych peers on the planet.

Whipped myself in the leg no less than 6 times during class today trying to do double unders.

I started to get annoyed because I’ve done these so easily before but it was just not working out and I was tired of the whips 🥲

Next circuit I switched my jump rope length and whaddya know? I did 9 in a row, whip free.

Sometimes reaching goals can be (literally) painful, and it feels like you’re not making progress. But when we assess the situation and see what we’re working with, we realize we’re actually very capable of achieving our goals.

It might not be us, just the tools we’ve been using, whether physically or mentally✨
