2021 Gorge Downwind Championships! What a race! So stoked to take second overall behind Austin Kieffer and ahead of my killer training partner Wilson Reavley. Additional shoutout to Ana Swetish for absolutely destroying the women’s title.
Of course the event was not the same without the ever large international contingent, but here’s fingers crossed to having them back next year!

What a week it has been at the 2021 Gorge Downwind Champs 💨🌊☀️🇺🇸 350+ competitors enjoyed classic Gorge conditions in what was an amazing week, run yet again by the unstoppable Carter Johnson who made it happen despite the obvious obstacles.
It was fantastic to see such strong numbers across Surfski, OC1/2 and SUP for an event that only US based paddlers could attend.
Whilst Vaikobi was not able to get there this year in person, De and Pat Hemmens from Ocean Paddlesports as well as Cyril from On The Water 360 were there waving the Vaikobi flag for us and did a fantastic job🙏
On the race track, our stars did not disappoint with our legendary charger (and now World champs silver medalist) Ana Swetish taking a dominant victory in the women’s ski and finished 4th overall! Long time Vaikobi International rockstar Austin Kieffer finally claimed his first Gorge title with a great win over our Bellingham charger Jonas Ecker in 2nd with Wilson Reavley in 3rd place, also from Bellingham.
Triston Kahookele- Santos took out the huge OC1 division in a tight battle with Kainoa Tanoai with Ryland Hart in 3rd place💪💪
Well done everyone and let’s keep our fingers crossed that we can get back to normal for an even bigger Gorge Downwind Champs in 2022!

Thank you DeAnne and Patrick for taking the time to fit me with the ideal ski. Had my first solo outing, and I was able to easily load, launch, and comfortably paddle the Carbonology Sport Boost LV. Think I'm going to call it the Boost LUV💕
Going from almost last on the short course (Image 5) six years ago to winning the long course overall. It’s crazy how fast time flies!
