OC Fair Board members were blindsided by news release from the Central Washington Fair Assn. The Yakima-based fair announced Kathy Kramer’s hiring on Oct 15. She will take the position Feb. 1. Kramer has been involved in various controversies since she started as CEO in late 2014.

OC Fair & Event Center Delays Proposed Master Site Plan

In the face of persistent public opposition, Orange County Fair Board members decided in April to pump the brakes on a controversial master site plan for the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Opponents of the plan raised several issues, among them its estimated $169-million total price tag. But by far the most contentious component was the proposed demolition of the Orange County Fairgrounds Equestrian Center, which is on about 7.5 acres on the northeast corner of the 150-acre state-owned fairgrounds.

Join us for a FREE Veterans Day community celebration to say THANK YOU to our veterans brought you by Veterans + Labor - Partners in Service, OC Fair, Heroes Hall and Orange County Employees Association.

When: Saturday, Nov. 10th, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa
How much: Free for all guests
Parking: Free
Open to all members of the public!

Live music by Flashback Heart Attack (80's Rock & Roll) and performances by Vanguard University of Southern California and the Pacific Symphony's Brass Quintet. Attendees will have access to resources and a job fair, health screenings, kids activities, a complimentary hotdog lunch and more!

The community is invited to bring nonperishable food items to donate to a food drive which will help veterans in need. Last year 5.6 tons of food was collected at multiple sites. Hoag will also be on site so you can donate blood in the name of your favorite veteran.

OC Market Place will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will offer free admission to Salute to Veterans attendees - make sure to grab a free pass while at the event.

Heroes Hall will be open and guests can check out the newest virtual reality exhibit, Bravemind, as well as the Veterans Story Booth where vets can record and share their tales of service.

In honor of the Marine Corps 242nd birthday, a cake cutting will take place at noon in Heroes Hall's courtyard area.
