In Loving Memory of Andy Phillips 01/12/2021

I just heard this terrible news. Thomas Andy Phillips was on my "Green" team at our Course Director Training Course in Newport Beach, California. He was a great man and came extremely well prepared for the challenge of the course. As we headed to Catalina Island for the open water evaluations Catalina Island finally popped out of the fog he said "That's not an island, that's a country". I will never forget him or his contributions to the CDTC. R.I.P. Thomas Andy Phillips. ❤️

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I became a PADI Divemaster. 17 of those years I was blessed to be a PADI Course Director and train future Instructors. Thanks to my mentors, my staffs, and all the students whose lives were changed forever by exploring life under the surface of the seas! I have been rewarded by the hundreds of huge smiles I have witnessed. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for making this possible! 👌❤️

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who perished or are still missing after an early morning fire on the SCUBA diving boat Conception very early this morning off of Santa Cruz Island.

The Conception was one of 3 boats owned by Truth Aquatics in Santa Barbara. I have been diving with Truth Aquatics and I found their operation to be top notch and one of the favorites of the local and distant diving communities. Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire staff as well. I know they are hurting.

This is truly a sad day for all of us who dive the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California.

Wakatobi - On my bucket list!

The December holiday season is a time of colorful lights, special decorations and togetherness. Those who visit Wakatobi trade a white Christmas in favor of white sand beaches, but they won't lack for festive colors. With a keen eye and a bit of imagination, divers and snorkelers can find reminders of the season festooning the reefs in bright displays of holiday colors and decor. Here are some of the ways the reefs and marine life of Wakatobi pay tribute to the holiday season.

Stay informed as a diver. It's so important.

5 of the Most Invasive Marine Species If you have ever traveled overseas then you’re probably familiar with filling out the customs declaration form, ticking yes or no to whether you have brought any agricultural items with you. Why do Governments care about this? Even if the items seem harmless, there could be threats that are detrimen…
