The Inaugural 2016 Western Elite Saltwater Tournament (WEST) season is now in the “books” as they say. It was an awesome 5 event series targeting Calico Bass “only” and measured on “total bag weight” for 5 fish. After the 5 events, the team with the highest total weight, was crowned “Anglers of the Year” … EPIC tournament and amazing venues such as the Long Beach Yacht Club, Ballast Point Brewery and Kitchen, Long Beach, and the Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego.
Congratulations to Ballast Point Spirits Fishing Team (Mike Lane & Scott Pethtel) for the coveted “Anglers of the Year” (AOY) WIN! … It was a close one, only 6 pounds difference!

Congratulations to Team Rolling Thunder (Joseph Shagner & Garrett Ching) for the WIN in the 5th and final WEST event!

Next year I think we will add a two day to the Island!!!! Rumor is we were going away, couldn't be further from the truth!!! If you want truth, honor, friendship and camaraderie in a inshore tournament format, look no further! We are not going anywhere so don't let anyone effect your mood! We want up beat, outgoing, competitive teams on board for WEST next year!!! If you feel lost, abandoned or just mistreated with other organizations, this is your home. Looking forward to our last event and even bigger things in our future!!!

AWESOME WEST Round 4 Tournament this past weekend! … Angler Chronicles covered this Western Elite Saltwater Tournament event for a future episode that will air on Fox Sports WEST & Prime Ticket networks soon!

The term “Comradery” means the spirit of friendship and community in a group, like the comradery of soldiers at war who keep each other upbeat despite the difficulty of their circumstances. Who is a comrade? A close friend or a fellow soldier, in other words, someone who comes to mind when you say, "We're in this together.” This is precisely what we witnessed on Saturday, August 20th at this WEST Tournament.

The weather was rough but the anglers made the best of it bringing to the scales BIG Calico Bass that weighed over 8 pounds. The NEW Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits in Long Beach, California was a perfect venue for this event, as plenty of food and drinks flowed throughout the awards ceremony.

Congratulations to the top 3 teams and all the anglers who participated in WEST 4! … Results are as follows:

1st Place: Ballast Point Spirits Fishing Team … Mike Lane & Scott Pethtel
2nd Place: Team Schwifty … Nick Green & Anthony Harris

Congratulations to Team Ballast Point Spirits Fishing Team (Mike Lane and Scott Pethtel) for winning event #4 hosted by Ballast Point Brewery and Restaurant in Long Beach!! They weighed a 5 fish limit of Calico bass that went 25.38 pounds just barely edging out Team Schwifty (Anthony Harris and Nick Green) for the top honors. Third place went to Team ShipFaced (Gary Reyes and Jay Jones). We had an amazing time at the new Restaurant, we will be utilizing this venue in the future! We appreciate all the anglers and staff for stepping up and making this event successful! As you know, our tournament directors were stuck for this event by the massive Blue Cut Fire and could not make it down the mountain. We also want to thank the entire Angler Chronicles crew for all their help with set up and weigh in. The next stop will be round 5 at the Bali High in San Diego Bay, we will see you all there!!!

Angler Chronicles had an awesome time covering the 4th event of the WEST (Western Elite Saltwater Tournaments) series yesterday. The weather was up but the fishing was great! Plenty of BIG Calico Bass came to the weigh-in; some over 8 pounds! As is the tradition of these tournaments, all Calico Bass are released to fight another day. Excellent venue was chosen for this event, the NEW Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits in Long Beach, California provided unsurpassed hospitality and service for the event.
