Great picture by taken 3 days before the Swiss Grand Prix during the European Tour in 96.

Here are 9 pictures all significant to me and a short comment to each one . 1)Ronnie Coleman’s gluteus muscles beside 20 other things made it impossible for his competitors to stand next to him , that’s what saved him in 2001. 2)Sergio in his most iconic pose , saw that picture the first time in 1983 and I’m still equally impressed today, nobody came ever close to it in this pose with Lee Priest being the closest. 3)Flex Wheeler in 93 , maybe the best bodybuilding picture ever taken 4)Jay Cutler in 2009 like Dexter in picture number 7 are the ultimate pictures when it comes to dialing in perfect for a contest . Also close are Samir in 83 Yates in 93 & 95 then Ronnie in 98 & 99. 5)Tom Platz , this poster was on my wall as a Teenager . To me it displayed a new era in bodybuilding with legs development very different from the 70s. 6) Bertil Fox in 83, in 83 I screamed about Bertil being robbed placing 5th at the Olympia , today I know better and 4th or 5th was as good as he deserved due to a poor presentation and to much water retention. 8)Arnolds side chest from 73 or 74 blew my mind when I was young , started to do extreme decline presses to extend the length of my chest which never happened since genetics is what it is. Gunthers chest looked almost like that 30 years later . 9)Nasser in Duisburg in 96. Nasser stepped on stage with Ib 300 (weighing in in my room when leaving for the show) and when hitting that double biceps pose it almost blew me away . Was sitting in the first row bc I didn’t make the finale .

You’re only as good as your weaker body parts are . Triceps was my most resilient body part and any conventional way of training didn’t create great results . Drop sets where the key for my triceps to grow either with dips or seated extensions like on the picture . Here my best drop set Ib 200 for 38 reps
Ib 160 for 18 Ib 130 for 15 Ib 100 for 10 then finish with Ib 70 for 8 . This was one of the rare exceptions where I went away from the traditional 8-12 reps .

The 90s was the birth of the original massmonsters starting with Yates , Dillet then Nasser and myself a bit later . Huge Bodybuilders we had long before that like Benaziza or Oliva but both are not considered Massmonsters . What makes someone a Massmonster compared of just a big bodybuilder ?

How to keep your shoulders big when dieting ?
In off Season I like all the crazy stuff with overload Sets super sets giant sets sometimes even high volume training but when I start dieting I keep it simple just 6 sets of shoulders right after my chest workout all in between 8-12 reps . Since my shoulders can’t really grow during my contest prep I just try to keep a maximum of size . Here’s an example
1 Set of front raises 8-12 reps
2 Sets of Side raises 8-12 reps
3 Sets of dumbbell shoulder presses for 8-12 reps
Rear shoulders I train on a different day after my back
