REMINDER! The following is an important message from the City of Cottonwood Parks & Recreation Department. In preparation for the upcoming Thunder Valley Rally event on September 18-19, Riverfront Park will have a soft closure go into effect on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 6 a.m. The softball fields will remain open and usable, but access to the parking lot and green space by the ramadas will be limited.

On Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 6 a.m. the entire park will be closed to the public in preparation for the event. We ask the public to not enter the main park area or softball fields during this closure. We encourage the public to use amenities that will remain open such as the skate park, disc golf, skate rink, and other public parks such as the Cottonwood Kid’s Park and Garrison Park.

This past Saturday, the Cottonwood Aquatics Center (Outdoor Pool) was proud to host the Northern Arizona Special Olympics swim meet, welcoming approximately 40 athletes for a morning of competition and fun.

The meet kicked off around 9:00 a.m., with swimmers competing and showing off all the hard work they have put into preparing for the event. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans, and the meet had to be cut short due to thunder in the area.

We were excited to have the opportunity to host these athletes and their families at our facility and appreciate our staff, volunteers, coaches, and everyone who helped make the event possible.

We wish all of our swimmers the very best of luck as they continue their season and prepare for the Special Olympics State Swim Competition later this year!
