We shouldn’t have to be more man-like just to be heard/seen/respected.

We should be able to stand in our femininity AND carry out our hopes & dreams.

(We should have access to our own body AND not have to expect our girls to ever compete against natural born males. Seeeeeeee, it’s not either or friends)

Let’s just do better for our girls. 💕Not in politics, just on our own, as a society. 🙏🏼

East Central Story Wrestling Club Welcome and thank you for visiting the East Central Story Wrestling Club Website.

I have been asked a lot lately "What do you do when you don't have a team?"

Girl, I hear you...this can be a lonely sport! Not every school has a team of ladies who want to wrestle. Some schools have 1...maybe 2 girls on a team. Here's my advice. Find a partner, find a club, find a coach. Find ANYONE who will believe in you, support you, and help you. I wrestle any chance I can get. That may mean wrestling kids half my size and younger, it may mean wrestling coaches just to work on technique, or it may mean wrestling any boy who will give me a chance (or a coach who will let you). It also may mean driving an hour one way after my team practices several times a week to wrestle with a club. Is it exhausting, time consuming, and expensive.....yes!!! But it's worth it!

Several girls have asked "What if I'm a seasoned wrestler and my team is just starting?" "How can I get better while my team just learns basic moves?" Some schools do not want the girls wrestling with the boys now that there are girls teams, even if they are better than half the boys. Shouldn't we be trying to make our TEAM better regardless of being male or female? Here's the reality...we have to help our girl teams get better (remember what it was like when you first started?) Take the time at practice to teach and mentor your teammates. Use time after practice or before school to work on you. I know it's not fair, but until we grow our sport, it is our responsibility to help our sisters out.

We have a girl who wrestles in a neighboring community and is the only female on the team. We've made arrangements with the help of our ADs and coaches for her to wrestle with our girl's team a few days a week. Yes we are competitors, but this sport is more than that. Girls...be creative!

Lastly, this week has been challenging. Girls I have spent countless hours training, motivating, and supporting have decided wrestling isn't for them. It's frustrating, but the truth is....this sport is hard! You have to enjoy all if it, because it is not easy. I have a lot more respect for those girls who at least tried than those who say I've always thought about wrestling!!
