Friends and family, it is with a heavy heart that after more than 25 years in operation, I must announce our permanent closure.
Please know that this decision was not reached lightly. Due to many factors, the most being the continued uncertainty of a return to conditions favorable to our programs, I felt it would be best if we moved on. To that end, I have also decided to retire from teaching entirely. We have all been through much over the past year and a half. I am confident that you all will find new interests to be passionate about, and with your same dedication that you have displayed in your studies as martial artists and gymnasts, I have no doubt in your abilities to find success.
I would like to express deepest gratitude to all of you who have supported us through the years. You have kept us going so many times. I will miss you all. I will miss seeing the joy on your faces as you master new skills and I will miss hearing with pride your stories about applying your focus and determination to your other areas of your lives. And, perhaps most of all, I will miss being there with you all as you grow and reach incredible heights. I hope to continue to leave this page open so as to keep in touch if you wish.
Thank you, everyone, for the experience of a lifetime.

Why hello everyone!
It has been quite the rough six months. I do have some news, though!
Covina Parks and Recreation has opted to allow some classes to resume, with some modifications.
What does that mean for us? Well, for one, Ju-jitsu as we have practiced it is not a safe activity for now. So going forward I have opted to shift our focus to two elements of the art that we can practice within social distancing guidelines.
The Little Kickers program is going to focus on Karate, taking advantage of the extra space we all now require. Students will also learn to use breathing techniques to help retain focus over long periods.
For our teen and adult participants we are proud to bring the art of Iaido, a more traditional style focused on the perfection of techniques with the katana. Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment if they so wish, though it will have to pass a safety check before it will be permitted in class. Please, no "live" blades (swords which have a sharpened edge) or cosplay props (this includes decorative replicas).
Also being introduced is the brand new Delvers Club, an enrichment activity that allows students to hone their academic and interpersonal skills. Using Wizard's of the Coast's popular game, Dungeons & Dragons, players will have a stress free way to practice their mathematic and literary skills, while learning to solve problems as a team.
A final note: masks will be required at all times, for both participants and observers. I also recommend hand sanitizer and bug spray, because we will be outside.

At 6:30, food will be made available.
Promotion ceremony will begin at 7:00
We will conclude with our holiday gift exchange at 7:30.
Now, for those joining us, we are asking each party to provide either:

1 side dish -or-
1 dessert item
Each food item should be large enough for 30-50 people to have a sample portion. Please try to avoid the major allergens if possible.
We also ask that each party bring one drink item (usually one 2-litre will suffice.)
During the promotion ceremony we ask that observers maintain a respectful silence and that any photography or videography be conducted without the use of additional illumination (flash, cam lights, ect.).
The gift exchange will be open to participants under the age of 18. Those who wish to participate must bring a wrapped gift that does not exceed $10. After submitting your gift, you will receive a raffle ticket which will be used to determine the order in which participants shall choose from the available gifts.

Emergency notification:
Classes on September 14 are cancelled due to a city event. Classes are rescheduled for September 21.
Hello everyone! I have just been informed that next Saturday, June 8th, the building will be requisitioned for a staff training seminar. As such, Kindergym and Gymnastics classes will be cancelled for the day. There will not be a chance to make up this missing class at the end of the session, so the parks and recreation department will be issuing refunds for the missing day. I am told this can either be a direct refund or applied as credit towards future registration. I will be handing out flyers given to me by the city during class today.
Somebody in the Saturday gymnastics left behind something rather important. Please send us a message if this was you.
UPDATE: The item has been returned to its rightful owner.
Jujitsu potluck will be held on Tuesday, June 26th at 6:30 pm in our regular room.
Sorry for the late notice!
All classes for today, 4/27, are cancelled. We will make up the class at the end of the session.
Class is cancelled for tonight, 1/18, due to the partition wall falling off the track. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This class will be made up at the end of our session.
