Today we will highlight our Hip Hop/ Contemporary Instructor Asia Holloway!

Asia Holloway is entering her 5th year of teaching dance at A1 studios. Growing up, she danced for nine years (and Miss Amanda was even one of her teachers!) This year, Miss Asia has classes in contemporary and hip hip, but also works with dancers in jazz and musical theater. Outside of the studio, she works for a private school in their fundraising department and loves spending time with her two sons.

48th Annual StreetScene is fastly approaching hope to see everyone in downtown Covington on August 8

Our class featured today is our Theater class

Our class moved more into more techniques last year :

Tone of voice exercises
Vocal warm ups and body warms up
Speeches
Introductions
Small skits
Improvisation exercises were a big hit -
Using items as “props” using imagination
Memorizing lines and small skits was the focus of the second half of the year - along with voice projection

Amanda Burns is the teacher and instructor for this class and has many years of public speaking experience- as well as pageant performances that include spokes model and introduction - as well as training and classes in drama and theater.

This is a great program for boys and girls who want to perform and become more comfortable on a stage- and help improve acting skills for future community performances -

Our next class showcase- is our cheer class/ cheer team!

Our cheer class is a program that focuses on cheers, chants, stunts, jumps, cheer dance routines, pom routines, team and leadership, and builds each week on the week before.

Our cheer class is under the direction of Amanda Burns and assisted by Paige Balser. Amanda has over 20 years of cheer coach experience- combining Covington Parks and Recreation, Roanoke College, and Covington City Junior Varsity Coach. Paige has been working with the team since it started and also cheers for Alleghany High School and enjoys cheering and creating routines and stunts for the studio class.

Our class participates in the Christmas parade, community events, and the two yearly showcases. The class does not have a costume deposit and is only 50.00 a month. Our team also enjoys the acro class for free. You can do the team, class, and acro for only 70.00 a month. This is a HUGE discount!

Today we are showcasing our children's clogging classes!

We have two time slots- our instructors are Lily Burns and Micheala Plogger. Both return to A1 Studios with energy, excitement, and years of clogging skills.

Lily and Micheala both dance for the dance team, compete within the clogging genre, and Lily is also a choreographer for the team. Lily's choreography has won multiple awards.

Join our classes and take advantage of our value priced class. There is also no costume fee as well and each class will participate in our winter and spring showcases.

We had a great two dance at the studio with our cheer camp.

We worked so hard on chants, cheers, tumbling, Pom work, conditioning, training, games and fun, and learned a dance routine !
