At JFK Martial Arts, we understand that not every student thrives in a traditional, highly structured karate class. That’s why we offer a Sensory Class designed for students who benefit from a more flexible, supportive, and individualized learning environment.

In this video, our Sensory Class students are working on a fun hand-eye coordination drill using nunchucks to knock a ball off a cone. Activities like this help develop focus, motor planning, coordination, timing, confidence, and body awareness—all while having fun and celebrating each student’s unique learning style.

Our goal is to meet students where they are, provide meaningful successes, and create a place where every child can learn, grow, and belong.

🗡️🔥 JFK Martial Arts Gumdo Class 🔥🗡️

Gumdo is the traditional Korean art of the sword, where students develop focus, discipline, precision, respect, and control through centuries-old training methods.

In this video, one of our students is practicing the art of candle snuffing 🕯️—a challenging exercise that requires the student to extinguish the flame using only the movement of the blade’s air displacement without ever touching the candle. The goal is not power, but precision, control, and concentration.

Exercises like this teach students that true swordsmanship is about mastery of oneself as much as mastery of the sword. 💪🧠

We are proud of the dedication and focus our Gumdo students demonstrate each week as they continue their journey in this traditional martial art. 🗡️
