This animal doing diamond push-ups full plank at 82 years old is Dr. George Riser. Aside from being a physician until he retired, he was on the archeological team that got Poverty Point Louisiana recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, and he’s got a great sense of humor to boot. He never lets his age factor into anything. Nothing stops him 💪🏻

Bob, what a stud. He’s a Vietnam infantry marine turned successful and soft spoken business man (and straight up good dude). Just because someone’s peaceful doesn’t mean they’re harmless lol. At 76, he comes in here and does tireless rounds on the mitts and bag. He’s on the right side of “If you don’t use it, you lose it” 👊🏻💥

Once you hit middle-age in order to not feel like dog mess all the time, you really have to consciously pay attention to water, weights, vegetables and sleep because those are the things that will get you feeling good and keep you feeling good. If any one of those factors is lacking, the day is going to be just a little bit harder. A person can consistently look and feel about 10 years younger than their chronological age if they have these four things in order. It doesn’t have to be weights either. Any movement will do, but I find that resistance training has a bigger payoff for the amount of time it takes then other methods of exercise. Water, weights, vegetables, and sleep

Do traditional striking arts work for self defense against a heavily built, aggressive person? If you train your people like athletes they do. Anyone without explosive power, agility, and calm under pressure will fold immediately when things get real. Fundamentals are everything and combinations, defensive movements, and counters have to be drilled and sparred in until they’re reflexive under stress. My Kenpo Karate style once enjoyed a reputation for making diamonds out of coal with pressure, but it’s in decline thanks to the strip mall insurance risk-matrix business model. I’m so glad I get to train my people my way, the old way 🥋👊🏻💥🙏🏻

My goal is to look and function like Doc when I’m 81. He’s an iron bull. If you do something slowly and correctly, you can do it your whole life 💪🏻👨🏻🦳

Once I know my Kickboxing and Kenpo students aren’t afraid of exchanges, we start working on taking angles and stepping diagonally into the corners where they can set up counter attacks. Stepping straight back leads to loss of balance and an inability to set your feet for power, so when you hear an announcer say that a fighter is really working those angles, this is what they mean. Come see me and get those educated feet!
Striking entries 101 with the talented young Grason. Most people when they square up against another person have no idea what to start throwing initially, so here’s three fundamental single entry techniques that are combo builders; front kick, double jab, leg kick. These can be expanded into full length combinations at any time or good on their own. These are fundamental sample entries that fold out nicely into combinations but there is a sea of infinite techniques that can be entries if you’re creative. If you’ve ever wanted to try kickboxing for self-defense or just for non-boring cardio, give me ring!

A good kickboxing combination is like a sandwich. A quick front leg strike for the bread, three slices of fist, and a power kick from the rear leg to finish the stack. KPPPK. With belief in yourself, solid fundamentals, no nonsense footwork, and basic angles, there’s no one that can’t be beat. Come see me! 🦶🏻🥊🥊🥊🦶🏻
Olivia is one of four black belts I’ve made and an absolute energizer bunny. This is the end of the eighth round and you can still hear the report on those pads. That’s my She-beast!
Kickboxing is the most non-boring form of cardio. Young Gigi here is getting jackrabbit fast! Wanna shed some pounds but hate the elliptical and treadmill? Here you go 👊🏻💥
