Jared Serigne' - Great job! We have wanted to put together some of the history for quite a while. Like you said, this could have gone on forever but you got the essence of what is gone, and the little bit that we continue to hold on to while we can. Dad will continue to hunt as long as we can take him. I hope that I am still as able as he is in 25 years but I fear there may not be much left to the land we so love or the lifestyle we enjoy.

GATOR WARNING!!! - Please do not even think twice about bringing your retriever out in the marshes of southeast Louisiana for teal season. We have seen more gators this year than ever before and these guys are big, active and hungry. We took out four (Two 11's and two 8.5's) on Sunday morning and every time we stopped to take one off the line, two or three more big ones would surface around us. To make matters worse, due to a huge price drop, there is no incentive for our trappers to harvest anything larger than 8' this season so many of them are not filling their quotas leaving more of these giants to roam your ponds.

LA COASTAL ZONE - EARLY OPENING
There has been much debate about the first weekend of November opening for Coastal LA. Many places far north of us will not open until Thanksgiving week. Here is what we observed. In the St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parish marshes there were plenty enough birds for opening weekend. But they missed badly on the weather.
Many hunters limited out early on Saturday before the rains set in. Sunday was a different story. Heavy rains and a howling wind pushed three feet of water into the marsh but Paw Paw and I ventured out as the rain was ending. We saw more big ducks moving, especially pintail, than I can remember in previous years but with most of our decoy spread limited to the edge of the pond it was hard to get them to respond. We did knock down 7 and are looking forward to next weekend.
Now if only the service can get us more reasonable duck hunting weather all should be fine.

LET THE SEASON BEGIN - PRE-THANKSGIVING TRIP
Paw Paw is turning 75 this year and my brother and I have decided to take him on a hunting/promo trip. We will be selling the units that we carry with us for $850 with no sales tax since they are being delivered out of state. With an impending price increase on the horizon (due to increasing materials cost) this will probably be the last chance to get one at this price. This is a unique opportunity to save some of the $350-$400+ shipping costs which we are seeing every time we ship one.
We are exploring either a trip up the MS flyway or an eastward swing to the Carolina coast at this point and may have to go with the location where we can sell the most. If you have any hunting supply retailers in your area who you think might be interested, we would like to contact them as well. Let us know what your hunting area is like if you are interested. We would love to hunt with some locals and get the chance to show off what our pirogues have to offer.
