Yesterday history was made. Payton made the decision to forgo defending her 2025 Girl’s State title to chase gold in the Varsity State Tournament against the boys. She could have taken the easy route and competed in the Girl’s bracket, but she decided to risk it all for a chance to make history and in making that decision to compete against the boys - she had already won, regardless of the outcome.


Congratulations to the 2026 119lb Varsity State Champion AND recipient of the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler Award, Payton George.
