Back Cove Custom Calls This page is created to inform waterfowlers about calls that will put birds on their table. We ARE the Fowl Outlaws.

We are a custom call making company that takes the tradition and legacy of the early Smith Island gunners to produce calls that kill! Each call both duck and goose are uniquely designed by one of the Eastern Shore's finest artists, David Tyler. Every call is fine tuned to meet every waterfowler's specific needs.

Tonight’s feature, Westinghouse micarta insert with a mud brown barrel.

The “Blackwater cut” has a slightly longer reed while the “Mongrel” has a slightly shorter reed showcasing how versatile these calls can be.

Shorter reed on the mongrel really frees up the bottom end allowing for faster transitions giving it an even more J-frame feel and agility

Longer reed on the blackwater cut really thickens up the midrange and allows you to really push that top end even more!

Over the last year I took the time to really get these calls in the hands of some great callers. As always I welcome all feedback, good and bad. So with everything taken into consideration I started really pushing the limits on these two call models. Changing bores, exhaust etc and boy did it pay off! All this week I will be posting these calls close up as well as sound files.

The mongrel•~ was already a great call but always room for improvements! This call features in house laser cut custom dagger reed, great top end and rattling bottom end feed with the ability to clean up. Reed adjustments can give you cutdown capabilities with jframe speed

Blackwater cut•~ a short parallel toneboard with plenty of back pressure making this call very forgiving. This call is packed with ducks from top to bottom. Great low end, clean quacks, great top end without overblowing and a nasty midrange if you choose to just by opening your throat.

Not enough words to describe how proud of am of all this young man has accomplished in such a short time. I am so fortunate to have this young man by my side working tirelessly to become the great caller that he is.
