🏆 Crosswoods Golf & Whistling Wolf Mini Golf | 2026 Business of the Year
There’s a lot more behind Crosswoods Golf and Whistling Wolf Mini Golf than a round of golf.

The Stone family’s Crosslake story began in 1965, when John and Delores Stone honeymooned in the area, fell in love with Crosslake and purchased land here. Two years later, they opened a 13-hole miniature golf course. Nearly 60 years later, that small family business has grown into a Crosslake destination welcoming more than 65,000 guests each year.

But their impact reaches well beyond the golf course.

Through the years, the family helped provide the land and vision that became Crosslake Town Square and Swann Drive, working alongside community leaders to help shape the Crosslake we know today. They continue to give back by donating hundreds of rounds of golf each year to charitable organizations, hosting fundraisers and supporting programs like PGA HOPE for veterans.

They’ve also created something special for their employees. Their team spans teenagers working their very first jobs, career professionals and retirees, with many returning year after year. Some have been part of the Crosswoods family for 5, 10 and even 20 years.

As their nomination described it, Crosswoods has become a “vibrant social anchor” in Crosslake, a place where generations of families, visitors and employees have made memories together.

From Whistling Wolf Mini Golf to Crosswoods Golf, the new Farm golf links, Haunted Mini Golf and everything still to come, the Stone family continues to invest in this community while holding onto the friendly, personal experience that started it all.
