From the Olympics to your coach at Power Monkey Camp.
Meet Coach Shane de Freitas.
1996 Olympian
2x NCAA All-American
One of the few athletes in the world with a skill named after him.
At the bar station, Shane takes what feels intimidating and makes it approachable.
He’s coached everyone from beginners chasing their first pull-up to athletes working towards higher level skills, and everything in between.
Spend a week at Power Monkey Camp and work directly with Shane.

Power Monkey Fitness Camp
Coaches earn CEUs, movers of all ages train for longevity. Real education, lasting community
Camp is a weeklong training experience in gymnastics, weightlifting, endurance, and recovery—paired with expert-led lectures on sleep, nutrition, and performance.
Want to know exactly what to work on for your handstand?
Dave Durante walks through what’s covered at the Handstand Station at Power Monkey Camp:
• Getting inverted: moving away from the wall and learning spotting techniques
• Handstand push-up progressions
• Handstand walking
A well-rounded handstand is built on three things: strength, position, and stability. All three are trained at this station.
You’ll work in small groups, get direct feedback from world-class coaches, and leave with clear homework so you know exactly what to focus on when you get home.
Join and the whole Power Monkey team this Spring April 26 - May 2, 2026.

The year was 2016.
The year of Camps 5 and 6.
Dave let Katrin swing giants on high bar.
It was the year of Monkey Mike.
The staff and guest athletes were crazy talented, and still are which is kind of the crazy part.
Loved this little trip down memory lane.

Power Monkey Camp Coach Feature: Lara Michaels
If you’re up early at Camp, you’ll probably find Lara in the gym before breakfast, leading an hour of intentional stretch.
It’s not yoga. It doesn’t hurt.
And it challenges the idea that stretching has to be miserable.
Lara teaches athletes to find their achievable piece—break the movement down and own it. That approach mirrors the Power Monkey Method: fundamentals first.
Outside of Camp, Lara Michaels teaches mobility and flexibility, performs aerial work, and practices structural integration. Her coaching is shaped by injury—and by learning to work with the body instead of against it.
At Camp, she meets athletes exactly where they are and helps them take the next step.
Lara will be back at Camp this spring, leading daily mobility sessions.

We’re not saying pickleball started at Power Monkey Camp…but we have been pretty serious about it for the last five years now.
No big dill.
High above Lake Frances, campers tackle the famous ropes course.
It’s completely optional, but for many, it becomes the most memorable part of the week. Balancing and gripping your way across the thin ropes, then finishing with a 40-foot swing out over the water.
It’s a chance to practice doing something uncomfortable on purpose, in a supportive environment, and ultimately to make you realize—you can do hard things!
Nichole’s first crossover ✨
Crystal bringing the hype. RXSG bringing the ropes.
Good coaches help you master your favorite party tricks.
Good friends are there to laugh at your bloopers.
