GET READY, GET SET - Tomorrow is the first weekend of scallop season!

We hope you have been paying attention to the posts made this week reviewing the basic scalloping rules and regulations - but in case you missed any of them here is a quick recap!

You need a Fishing License. If you go on a charter boat, they may provide one but double-check.

You can catch scallops by hand or with a small dip net.

The personal bag limit for the Citrus County area is 2 gallons of whole bay scallops in the shell per person, with a 10-gallon limit per vessel.

Use Diver-Down flags or buoys if you snorkel or are going underwater.

Follow safe boating guidelines: boat sober, be aware of others, and follow posted speed signs.

Keep your harvested scallops safe to eat by keeping them cool and draining water to minimize bacteria growth.

Dispose of shells appropriately.
