Yesterday, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Phillips Football Center with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, followed by an evening of connecting with our incredible Catamount sponsors at the Sponsors’ Reception.

Our WCU Player of the Week presented by Carolina Ford Dealer is Tatum Sharp of Volleyball.

Sharp totaled 30 kills along with a team-best 16 blocks throughout the weekend at the Blue Ridge Volleyball Classic as the Catamounts earned a pair of victories in Asheville. Sharp's work on the block was key on Friday as she tallied eight kills a career-best seven stops in the comeback triumph over Bellarmine.

She tied for the SoCon lead with 16 stops on the week, while ranking in fourth with 1.14 blocks per set as she played in 14 sets. Sharp is the first player in the league to reach 30+ blocks leading the SoCon as the Catamounts continue to lead the league in rejections on the young season.

Western Carolina football's road opener at Campbell, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been postponed and rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.

All gates will open one hour before kickoff, and tickets from Saturday's game will be honored on Sunday.
