We are looking forward to seeing all the anglers this Sunday for our first trail tournament of the season. I will hold a live zoom meeting on Saturday evening to cover some important information (Login in formation is below), rules, Covid protocols, and procedures. Please make sure at least one member of each boat attends this virtual meeting. Here is some important information to keep in mind this week. Please feel free to give me a call or text if you have specific questions – 714-814-5803

Covid Procedures:
1- Any team member (Anglers or Boat Captain) that enter the registration / weigh in area must have a face covering on.
2- When waiting in line to weigh your fish all team members must have a face covering and need to maintain social distancing. There will be a orange traffic cone spaced out every 6 feet. One team per cone at all times.
3- Spectators are not allowed in the roped off weigh in area. All spectators in attendance must wear a face covering.
4- Failure to comply with Covid protocols may result in a teams disqualification.
5- I do not want us to risk losing our permits and possible fines for teams not following these rules. Please follow these guidelines to avoid disqualification and or removal from the tournament.

Registration Procedures:
1- There will be two registration lines. Both lines will have orange traffic cones spaced out 6 feet for social distancing. One team per cone at all times please.
A. One line for teams that fished any of the virtual tournaments with us this fall. In this line the GHSF staff will check that you have paid your tournament entry fee and give you your boat number. Boat numbers are assigned on a first come first served basis.
B. One line for teams that have not fished with us in the 2020-21 season. If this is your first tournament with GHSF this season the GHSF staff will check your liability form, and membership dues. Once you have completed that process you can then get in the other line to receive your boat number.
2- ALL TEAMS MUST COME TO THE REGISTRATION TABLES ON SUNDAY MORNING. YOU WILL NOT RECIVE YOUR BOAT NUMBER TILL SUNDAY MORNING.

Blast off Procedures:
1- As soon as you have received your boat number please launch your boat. Do not wait till 6:30 to launch your boat.
2- It will be cold on Sunday morning please make sure you take an extra 20-30 Seconds at the ramp to let the water drain from your trailer. This will help ensure that ice wont build up in the parking lot.
3- Please make sure you are familiar with the map linked below. Once we call your boat number please proceed to the check out dock. As you slowly drive by we will check your live wells, lights, life jackets and kill switch. Teams that do not have lifejackets and a working kill switch are not allowed to fish any GHSF event.
4- After completing boat check please idle to the no wake buoy, after passing the no wake buoy you’re free to fish.

Laurel Park Map

Check in procedures:
1- Each flight is assigned a check in time. Boats must be within 100 yards of the no wake buoys by their assigned time. Teams have a 5 min period to place their poker chip back on the board, the chip must be placed on the board by one of the anglers or the boat captain. Chips not on the board within the 5 min grace period will be disqualified. No late penalties will be given.
2- It is extremely important for teams to make sure they place their chip on the board regardless of catching fish or not. If your team gets off the water early please place your chip on the board before you leave the ramp area. This allows us to know the team is off the water and safe.
3- After teams have placed their chip on the board. They may trailer their boat and/or bag their fish. Fish should then be brought directly to the weigh in line. Make sure you have plenty of water in your bag. We will have a few bags at the weigh in table if you need to barrow one.
- Scales do not open till 2:30
- Boats 1-30 – 3:00
- Boats 31- 60 – 3:15
- Boats 61 – 90 – 3:30
- Boats 91 – Up – 3:45

Basic rules:
1- It is each teams duty to read and understand the rules all the rules, this is only a summary. Interpretation of the rules is solely up to the tournament director. If you have a question that comes up during the day please feel free to call or text me at 714-814-5803.
2- The tournament director can adjust the rules or procedures at anytime in the best interest of the tournament or safety.
3- 5 Fish limit for each boat – Black bass species only – Spots, largemouth, and shoal bass on Lanier. Any fish you weigh in must be at least 14 inches in length on Lanier. Short fish will not be allowed and a penalty will be assessed for each short fish you try and weigh in.
4- Any dead fish will receive a ½ pound penalty. Decisions if a fish is dead at the scales will be up to the Tournament Director or their representative.
5- Fish must be caught in a sportsman like manner. No live bait maybe used.
6- Anglers must be courteous to everyone enjoying the lake. Competitors should never come within 50 yards of another boat during competition hours, unless they’re invited to share that spot with the current inhabitant. Teams that are found to be encroaching on another competitor or another vessel maybe disqualified.
7- Boat Captains must drive the large combustion engine at all times. Anytime the combustion engine is running all team members must have life jackets on and buckled with a kill switch attached to the drivers person. Its is each boats duty to ensure they have a working kill switch and all required safety equipment. Boat captains or student anglers can drive the trolling motor.
8- Boat captains can not touch a rod unless they are making a safer environment in the boat. (Putting rods away or moving them during a fish landing) If a captain wants to tie on a lure or fix a backlash they must be seated in the boat.
9- Boat captains can net, weigh, cull, measure, provide advice or guidance. Only student anglers may cast, reel, or fish.
10- Boat captains are in charge of the boats safety. Boat captains should never put their anglers in a dangerous situation. If dangerous conditions or weather are in the area the boat captain must get the students into the safest situation available to them.
